Came here for my birthday celebration (3/7) with a reservation at 9:15 PM, but didn’t even get served WATER until 35 mins after sitting down (it was 9:40 I think). It wasn’t even our server that gave us water, it was someone ELSE who came by, gave us our water, and then said enjoy and left. My girlfriend and I were so confused because we thought he would also be taking our order, but then I saw that he had a scarf on and was ready to go (because we were near the door and I saw him about to head out). It wasn’t until I also noticed workers walking around with vacuums to which I then decided to ask someone walking by if they could get our server. Then they asked what our server’s name was, and we said no one has even come to our table to take our order. They said they would find out.
It looks like there was some sort of miscommunication, but even once they did find a server, the actual server didn’t get to actually take our order until about 10 minutes later from that. Instead, they said they would open someone’s bottle of wine and then come over to us, but that also took so long. They opened the other table’s wine (which was a few tables down from us so my girlfriend could see him doing it), but then he kind of disappeared after that. Didn’t even get bread in a timely manner for while we waited until a bit later.
I get it, they were now nearing closing time and we were in a different section and the server was very apologetic, but cmon… it felt like I was in a scene from kitchen nightmares where the customers are left wondering why they are waiting for so long to get their order taken.
The food, however, when it FINALLY arrived, was pretty good! I knew their food was good because I’ve ordered takeout before, so that was the only plus side. Got oysters, truffle mac & cheese, chef’s special of salmon w/stuffed crab & other things, a cocktail and my girlfriend got the rainbow fish and some wine (all which I recommend, especially the truffle mac & cheese! Very creamy and not too truffley, just enough! However at the time of making this reciew, Not too sure with the oysters anymo , because my girlfriend currently has an upset stomach & threw up, and we are worried it may be due to the oysters. The last time we had food poisoning, we also had food poisoning from oysters at a chinese buffet, and this seems to be showing the same symptoms). However, I’d also give a knock down to atmosphere because people were vacuuming while we ate. But I get it because it was near closing.
HOWEVER, when it came to dessert, the server assumed we didn’t want to order dessert because we asked for boxes, but then he still wanted to ask and confirm with us, to which I said can we see a dessert menu just in case? Then he said, “Let me double check if the kitchen is still there because they stop serving at 10 PM and it’s 10:04.” And what do you know… no one is in the kitchen. That’s fine because I get it, it’s after 10PM, but we didn’t even get told of a LAST CALL or what time the kitchen closed. So many other places that I’ve eaten at have at least told us when the kitchen is doing last call. So in that case, this meant no birthday dessert for me :(((
The server did try to compensate by giving us some wine glasses to take home & packing up our food in our to-go boxes, to which it made me feel bad if I didn’t tip, and I always try to tip when I can, so I still did 21%.
Overall, not a good experience. The server was apologetic and seemed to be flustered with the situation (which I get), however NOT EVEN A DISCOUNT WAS OFFERED FOR OUR DISTRESS! Parking wasn’t even fully comped. We were just given the normal voucher that makes you pay $5 at the gate (as stated on the sign when you enter the parking garage). I would love to come back here, but not sure anymore with the kind of service I received for MY BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION. Maybe it’s best to just stick to pick up options if you want...

The aura of sophistication met with a cozy embrace, providing a tranquil setting perfect for indulgence. But it wasn’t just the ambiance that set the stage for a memorable evening. The culinary journey I embarked upon was nothing short of extraordinary.
New England Clam Chowder: The evening commenced with their award-winning New England Clam Chowder, and one spoonful instantly confirmed its accolades. The soup showcased an inviting creamy base, punctuated by the brininess of fresh clams. The incorporation of potatoes lent a comforting heartiness to each bite, while smoky bacon snippets added depth and a gentle crunch. This was a chowder that not only warmed my palate but my soul as well.
Lump Blue Crab Cake: As a fervent lover of seafood, the Lump Blue Crab Cake was a revelation. Plump, tender, and generously filled with succulent crab meat, each morsel was a testament to the ocean's bounty. The avocado cilantro aioli draped over the crab cake added a zesty freshness, complementing the rich crab. Paired with the tangy tartar sauce, it was an exquisite balance of flavors.
Signature Chilean Sea Bass Oscar: My main course was the pièce de résistance of the night - the Signature Chilean Sea Bass Oscar. The sea bass, pan-seared to perfection, was flaky and buttery, its mild sweetness shining through. It was crowned with a lavish layer of crab that added a touch of opulence. The asparagus was snappy and fresh, providing a verdant contrast, while the velvety hollandaise sauce was nothing short of liquid gold. The creamy mashed potatoes and al dente vegetables on the side were more than mere accompaniments; they were co-stars in this culinary performance. Every component was harmoniously synchronized, creating a symphony of taste and texture.
Upside Down Candied Walnut Apple Pie: And as the curtains were about to draw on this epicurean journey, the Upside Down Candied Walnut Apple Pie made its grand appearance. This dessert was a masterpiece, both visually and gastronomically. The pie, with its luscious apple filling, was accentuated by the crunchy, sweet candied walnut crust. The warm caramel sauce drizzled over it was the perfect golden river of sweetness, and the cinnamon ice cream? It was the frosty cherry atop this delectable treat, melding the warm and cold elements together in an enchanting dance.
In conclusion, McCormick & Schmick's in Rosemont stands as a paragon of gastronomic excellence. From the attentive service to the exceptional dishes, it promises an experience that transcends the ordinary. It is not just a restaurant; it is a culinary haven that every food enthusiast should make a pilgrimage to. Highly...
Read moreI tried contacting the Rosemont Illinois establishment several times directly to discuss the food poisoning I got and never got any response. Judging by how poorly they're rated on Yelp they clearly just do not care about their guests experiences. Aside from the food poisoning the entire experience was poor. On Wednesday November 30th my husband and I had a 5:30 reservation. When we arrived there was another couple waiting in front of us, at an empty host stand. The four of us all stood there for more than five minutes, and no hostess appeared. The other couple sat themselves at the bar and we continued to wait a minute or two then decided we might as well sit there too. Moments after we sat down bar side the hostess walked out of the KITCHEN. We stood up, went to her, informed her we had been waiting (we had a reservation) and she made the excuse she had been seating another table. Which I clearly saw was a lie, since she walked out of the kitchen. Anyway, she sat us. In a completely empty section. There were no other tables near us. And we sat there. Forgotten. For ten more minutes. Finally we got up and just went to the bar. We should have just left then, but we couldn't get another table at another restaurant and we were in a time crunch to see the comedy show at the theatre. The bartender, manager, and every server we saw seemed to be overworked. So clearly they were understaffed. I am not a seafood fan so I always order steak. My steak came out tasting kind of odd. I was so hungry and we were so rushed I just scarfed it down. On a positive note the dessert (apple pie) was fantastic. We paid, walked over to the theatre, and about an hour later I was in the bathroom projectile vomiting up my entire meal. I spent the entire comedy show in the bathroom throwing up. Now, I work in restaurants. I have worked in restaurants my entire adult life. I know they will deny deny deny it was their food that got me sick. I am a very health conscious person. I meal prep my food. My husband and I eat the same prepped meals every day. There was nothing else it could have possibly been. My husband who didn't not have the steak was perfectly fine, and that is the only dish we did not share that entire WEEK. So please, save your money. Go to capital grill. Go to McDonald's for all I care. But avoid this place like the plague it is. I paid $200 to be sick and miss my favorite stand-up comedian. Give a crap about...
