I ordered three pizzas to-go and did not spend any time in the restaurant, so this review will focus only upon the food we received: The Plain & Simple (with pepperoni) The Messenian The Cozumel
The pizza size was not large - bigger than a typical small, but smaller than a medium. The crust was generous, though not dense. It was crisp on the outside and had a nice flavor as a whole aside from the occasional burnt spots on the bottom with an acrid, astringent, piney taste. The sauces on all three pizzas were very good (although used a little too sparingly for my tastes).
Two of the three pizzas were wet. The Plain & Simple had no grease runoff from the pepperoni, but the crust was not thick enough to handle the influx of fatty liquid it had absorbed and the small pieces had to be supported by two hands when eating. The middle of the crust on the Messenian was sodden from liquid from the spinach and likewise required care to eat. I actually dripped liquid from the spinach that ran from my mouth and down my neck - not to illustrate that I'm a messy eater, but that this was a wet pizza.
The Plain & Simple was, other than the above, unremarkable.
The Messenian included capers, goat cheese and kalamata olives. This was very tasty, and aside from the wetness from the spinach I enjoyed it quite a bit. Had it had less spinach, more goat cheese and more capers, this would have been excellent.
The Cozumel was likewise very good. It included lime and cilantro to garnish the shrimp, avocado and pepper toppings. The shrimp was well cooked and not overdone. The sauce was good, but unfortunately there was not very much of it.
As a whole it was a positive experience, but there is definitely room for improvement. Maybe the lack of substance in the crust is an artistic move, or my palate of expectation has simply been ruined by thick crusts from Little Caesar's (gross) or Papa Murphy's, but I think that would have made the difference between an interesting but okay pizza and an interesting and good pizza.
great flavor unique toppings burnt flavor marks were distracting not enough...
Read moreMy hubby and I ate here for the first time for his bday. We are very picky but laid back about it. We are foodies and we travel but have recently moved to Logan. Jack's was the only italian food I could find where everything wasn't saturated in soy or canola oil so 5 stars just for great ingredients! Most of the ingredients are made in house and locally sourced. Yes!!! The flavor with everything we ordered was spot on. They have truly mastered flavor profile and balanced flavor in their dishes here. The flavor combinations would be a huge success in any major city even Vegas or LA! I would go out of my way to eat here and bring friends. *Update: They have started offering vegan cheese here and it has made my experience that much better! The service here has stepped it up a notch. You can plan on waiting an average of 30 minutes for your food since it is made to order. The ambiance here is very hole-in-the-wall but with some great art and the flavor of the food made up for any short coming the decor presented...it was that amazing! I can't stress how amazing the flavor recipes were. I would request that they had more vegetarian options that didn't necessarily involve a ton of carbs and I would suggest that they consider using a healthy oil in their fryer like grape seed oil, corn oil (healthier than soy and canola but not healthy), rice bran oil or an animal lard that isn't hydrogenated (not manteca). I will definitely be bringing all of my guests here. When they work some more items onto the menu that isn't centered around carbs, it will definitely be a place that I would frequent as eating take out makes my life simpler in...
Read moreMy favorite restaurant in Cache Valley. I almost don't want write this, because I want to keep it to myself XD.
Excellent food. Their Lyon(pizzabread), and portobello appetizers are delicious!
The staff are super nice and helpful. Bradley the server is my favorite, but they are all good.
Garden Pizza, and the Messenian with artichokes instead of sausage are my go too pizza's as a vegetarian.
My girlfriend loves the Cozumel Pizza with shrimp.
They have a monthly pizza too and it's always super interesting and unexpected. These was a Nova Lox bagel inspired pizza with salmon a few months ago that was really good. Or another inspired by Indian flavors.
Beer selection is the best of any restaurant in town. Just be careful, because they stock alot of high point, (more alcohol) beers. So definitely watch it if you drove.
Definitely a gem in logan. I take all my visitors here and reactions are positive.
Logan has alot of pizza places, and only one other came close to this quality, and they have seemingly dropped in recent years.
Only reason I leave one star off the atmosphere, is on Fridays or Saturdays, they have random musicians do live music and they are often very loud, to the point where the servers have to wait for a song to be over before they can hear your order. Of the 10 or so groups I've heard play, I've only been impressed with 2. I think our last server said they were working on a plan to vet the musicians a little more and keep it down.
On a normal night, it's great, they have really interesting art and detailed murals to stare at while eating.
Jacks is 10/10. I try to make it in...
