โจ Hidden Gem Alert in Long Beach! โจ
If you ever find yourself in Long Beach, run, donโt walk to &โs Waffles on Pine and 1st Street. Let me tell you, this place completely exceeded my expectations. From the first bite to the last crumb, everything was pure comfort and flavor perfection.
Letโs start with the chicken and waffles baby whew! The chicken was double-dipped in a perfectly seasoned breading that was crispy on the outside yet juicy and tender inside. You know that melt in your mouth kind of crunch? Thatโs exactly what this was. Paired with the warm, golden waffle, it was the ultimate sweet and savory combo that hits all the right spots.
Then came the biscuits and gravy, and honestly, Iโm still thinking about it. The gravy was rich, creamy, and full of that deep, savory flavor that makes you close your eyes after the first bite. The biscuits were buttery and soft, and the eggs? Real, fluffy, perfectly scrambled, not that powdered stuff some places sneak in.
What I love most is the vibe familiar welcoming, and conveniently located just steps away from the beach. If youโre staying at a nearby hotel and want something delicious without the overpriced room service tab, this is the spot. Whether youโre grabbing breakfast before a beach day or brunching with friends, Annโs Waffles is your go-to for good food, good vibes, and great portions.
Trust me, once you try it, youโll understand why Iโm already planning my...
ย ย ย Read moreI've been wanting to try the food here since I heard about them. Then, I spotted the sign while returning my enterprise car rental. I finally made my way here in Father's Day. I was not dropped at the counter seating. But, I was able to enjoy a whole table. Solo diners will understand why this is a big deal.
I was hesitant to get the chicken & waffles. I prefer my chicken for dinner. ๐ But I'm glad I followed the suggestion of my server, Aera. She was very nice and friendly. As a solo traveler and often solo diner, this kindness goes a long way. I noticed the staff here routinely making rounds and checking on diners. I loved seeing that extra step of customer service. Everyone was welcoming and friendly while being professional.
The waffles were light and fluffy. The chicken, no fatty chunks were hidden under the skin. That was some of the best fried chicken I've even eaten. The chicken was moist, yet the skin was golden. I imagined that someone's Grandma was in the kitchen frying away. Nope, the owner was in there whipping up this deliciousness.
It was such a great meal that I ordered a chicken & waffle combo to take home for my son for Father's Day breakfast. My son & grandson loved it. I can't...
ย ย ย Read moreFirst time eating here.
Ordered via Uber for pickup. The wait time for a Saturday wasn't bad. About 20 to 30 minutes to get my food.
The location is down town so parking is an issue and it's in a bit of a rough area when it comes to their outdoor seating.
The inside was very nice and clean.
The service was good.
They did mess up my order though and I had to go back for them to fix it but they did it quickly and were very nice about it.
Now for the food. I ordered the biscuits and gravy with a side of bacon and chicken sauce. I thought it would be breakfast sausage but made from chicken instead of pork but it actually wasn't breakfast sausage at all which was disappointing. More like a smoked sausage which normal I like but this one didn't have much flavor at all and I wouldn't order it again. The bacon was really good. The gravy was a bit too savory for my liking but still pretty good and I'd order it again. The biscuits though, they might be the best biscuits I've ever had in my life! I really wanted to also try a waffle but at $20 that's...
