Location and amenities are great. We're the first to live in our apartment and only a few small things needed to be touched up or repaired which comes with all new homes. However, the low rating is due to the unresponsiveness of the office staff. Considering how much we pay for rent, you would think we'd at least get responses for our complaints or at the least an acknowledgment.
Update August 15, 2020:
2 out of 3 of our elevators have been broken/inoperable for over a month almost 2 months now. There is simply not an excuse to leave only 1 elevator working and it is for the guest parking.
The staff does not answer phone calls whether it is business hours or returning after hours calls. This place is not worth the money at all. The staff also did not respond to our request for help locating a missing piece of mail that the carrier said was left in the mail room.
Security is also a big issue here. Ever since Covid, the staff does not monitor the carriers while dropping off packages and lets carriers leave packages in an non secure hallway near a main entrance.
Understandably, the amenities have been closed since the beginning of the Covid fiasco. However, the staff never made changes or attempted to make schedules for residents to use the amenities or have cleaning scheduled while keeping the amenities opened for limited hours. But the staff allowed a party of at least 30+ people after they had “shutdown” all common spaces and amenities “due to Covid”.
Not worth the price we pay.
The Oceanaire has responded to the original review I posted a few months ago that they would reach out to me to address some of the issues, however, I haven’t heard a word from them other than reminders of when...
Read moreOriginal renter here. Great location and beautiful courtyard and roofdecks. I have, however, been generally disappointed in this building. Security is a chronic problem and basic steps to fix it go unaddressed or are blamed on residents even when valuables were properly locked up and secured (the police themselves have noted this when in the building). Packages are frequently stolen because the building has not allowed them to be stored in a safe location ever since the pandemic began. The building management claims that homeless are entering the building because of the pandemic but it predates that: I was reading to my small child on the roof deck last fall when a homeless man who was hidden under the tarp of a teepee rolled over next to us. Unfortunately, this was not an isolated incident but is a result of major security flaws in the building. I regret I do not feel safe living here. I was also surprised when the Oceanaire kicked off the pandemic with an oversized party (apx 50 persons) in a common area that they previously claimed was closed due to covid. When pressed about this, they stated it was because a security deposit had already been put down (and could not be refunded?) and then stated they would follow up with me over the phone and never did. Mostly though, the lax security and unresponsiveness make it difficult to justify the rent. I do not feel that we get what we pay for and I wish the security of residents was taken...

If I could give a 0, I would. In the last year, the new leasing team has neglected the apartments, as you can smell & see feces in the common areas (hallway carpet, near the pool, etc). They refuse to replace certain things (shades, paint, cabinets) in the apartment upon move-in so make sure you take pictures before moving in & keep written documentation. Complete a pre-inspection before moving out as you are entitled to one by law, as Oceanaire avoids doing it.
My experience: Prior to moving out, they withdrew about four times the amount of the prorated rent that they quoted me. I spent two months following up with them about their error but the ignored several of my emails & calls. Rather than solve their mistakes for the charge, they tried to keep the money plus the security deposit by creating charges they could not justify. I got corporate involved to assist with the issue. After 2 months, Oceanaire finally refunded the money today. Please, if you move in, take pictures, videos & keep written documentation. Please be knowledgeable about local tenant laws, as this could help you.
Oceanaire might comment on this post with a generic response stating for me to contact them, but I’ve been doing so for the last two months, so save it, Oceanaire.
I loved the apartment when it was under different management in 2022. Current leasing staff are...
