This has to be the worst restaurant I’ve ever been to. I mean that with every word. So I just moved to CA 6 months ago & today was the first time I got to actually search and pursue a good pho restaurant. I found some places close to me via google maps & pho American stood out to me! So i decided to get directions and make my way! I arrive here & the windows were dirty, floors were filthy, and as soon as I walk in I was told I could sit any where (via the open flat hand gesture). No greeting what so ever. I came with my 2.5 year old and 7 month old newborn. I asked for a high chair & the lady said there were none. No biggie we’ll take a booth and I’ll sit my baby’s car seat on a chair which I had to grab myself. I’m sitting there viewing the menu & I look over to my right and an older guy is sitting there chomping on some shrimp fried rice. We made eye contact and his exact words were “let me know when you’re ready to order” Like how nasty and unappealing. All I saw was fried rice and eggs when he opened his mouth!! Like oh my goodness were you gonna stop and come take my order while you were chewing food!? Yeah right. Fast forward, I order the vegetable pho, a sprite, side of noodles, and veggie egg rolls. Food comes out. Looks amazing. I just had to ask for the sweet and sour sauce for the egg rolls but other than than. I got to chowing down on my hot veggie pho & fresh veggie rolls. By the way while I was eating I had to continually fan away 2 annoying gnats!! Gave her my credit card as soon as she brought the ticket. Brought the receipt back so I could sign & I thought I was on my way. I look at the tray of condiments... soy sauce, hot sauce, spoons, chopsticks, peppers, etc.... To my disgusting surprise I see something squirming around in the bottle of soy sauce!! I almost puked!! I grabbed my phone and hit record. I thought I was tripping or something. So I tell the older lady to come on over & she grabs the bottle tries to act like she didn’t see anything. And I grab t and put it in the sunlight that was coming in behind me and it started swimming around like a tadpole. It was absolutely disgusting. She grabs the older man(aka the owner) and tells him. She insisted she was going to throw it away then he finally sees the bug inside. And with a smart attitude he looks at me and says do You need something? UH YEAH! You need to clean your restaurant for one, and two get rid of these bugs! Now I didn’t say anything like that I just notified him that it was very nasty and I told him I used that soy sauce (even though i didn’t) and he’s like okay. Do you want me to do? I’ll give you 50% off. First of all I already paid for my food!! Thanks though. Well that’s what I can do I can give u discount. I’m like what about a sorry?? Are you alright? I will make sure this won’t happen again. Nope. So he insisted that he put the $20 back on my card and then recharge it for a discounted price ($10) So he voided the first sale and reswiped my card for the even $10. Even now when I look at my credit card transactions it still has both payment posted of course. He had no remorse for it and was just rude! After I discovered the bug I got mean looks from the elder lady and the younger one. I am so disappointed with this visit. After all of that $30 of my money is tied up in pending charges and now I still have to deal with them until I get it resolved. DO NOT EAT HERE. IF I SAW ALL OF THIS IN THE FRONT IMAGINE WHAT THE KITCHEN LOOKS LIKE. I don’t even wanna know. By the way I never do review and I’m sure you can tell but I just had to let the town know. This was supposed to be the best PHO in Long Beach. I THINK NOT!!

My parents and I love the pho here. Great tasting broth and fresh ingredients. When dining in, however, the service can be somewhat lacking. It often feels like you're inconveniencing them with your presence. A bit uncomfortable. This time around, since I'm sick, I called in my order to pick up and eat at home. My usual is the rare steak and meatball pho. I requested a large size today. I went to pick up and paid. I included a $2 tip (15%), which I feel is fair for a to-go order. I asked for an extra packet of hoisin sauce because they only included one in the bag of toppings. So they give one packet for small and also only one for a large pho, and they want to charge you extra if you ask for more. I explained to the girl that they have bottles on their tables and that usually more than one packet's worth of sauce is used. I feel they should automatically include 2 packets for a small and 3 for a large. I understand charging extra if you want extra of everything. She did give me a little cup of extra sauce (thank you), but I do find that the practice of charging extra per condiment is a bit... stingy? I don't blame her; she was kind to oblige even though she looked a bit annoyed. But for the business owners (this goes for the other restaurants as well) at least be realistic as to the amount that normally goes into a bowl of pho and at least try to match that with the hoisin packet or cups to supply per order. Just a thought.

First and last time. I ordered from DoorDash and Pho America offered a special of 2 shrimp fried rice for the price of one. Also 2 for one Pho, and they didn't come through. They only sent one of each. They sent one pack of hoisin sauce for a bowl of Pho. One lime slice and it was dry, no juice came out of it. I just moved to Long Beach and this was my first order via delivery. I ordered Pho frequently when I lived in the IE, and never once had to request utensils. This order came without chopsticks, with out a spoon and fork. I was calling during business hours and they don't answer.

Rude! Rude! Rude! It was late. I called prior to see if they were still seating. The person who answered said 8:15 was the cut off time for seated guest. We got there at 7:40ish. Walked in he immediately said to go orders only!! I said I just called the person said 8:15. He reluctantly walked us to a table while barking hurry and order. About 5mins later a family of 4 walked in they got the same speech. This restaurant closes at 9pm...why are you turning away customers at 7:40. If I had other choices we would've never spent our money here but our kitchen is being remodeled it was labor day and our local favorite had closed early. I think if you want to cut off seated customers you need to post that. Otherwise it's very rude to tell people they have to order to go when your restaurants posted closing time is 9pm. I've lived in Long Beach 20yrs I've only come to this place 5x and every time has been an issue. Oh we only order Pho we were done before 8:15 and had to wait another 10mins to pay because no one came back to check on us. My husband had to walk up to ask for a to go bowl and pay. I always drink my left over juice for breakfast 😋 anyway We'll probably never come back here. I think 5x of bad service is...
