It's first foray into LA County, Roasting Water opened up at a prime location, next to Ben Jerry's & in front of Edwards Cinema at the Long Beach Town Centre. Having a positive experience at the Westminster branch, on a hot Saturday afternoon, I met with family for some cold refreshment.
Inside is more spacious than the Westminster location, with 2 benches to sit. A couple al fresco benches, shared with Ben & Jerry's, are available to enjoy the weather.
I ordered a Thai tea for my mom when I'd see her later & asked for easy sugar. What I got was a drink as sweet as molasses. When my mom complained it was too sweet, I had to verify it for myself. Yup, cloyingly sweet! Unless the person making the drink simply forgot, if this is easy sugar, I don't want to know how the default sweetness tastes like.
Another thing that soured me on this Roasting Water was when I got home, I noticed my Thai tea leaked on my driver side truck seat. Now, the reusable glass bottle was inside the paper bag, only slightly slanted. It was not laying on it's side or anything remotely similar. Seems the cork wasn't applied securely. I remember leaking not being a problem with the reusable bottle I obtained from the Westminster branch, and upon further inspection, I found the LB location using corks that are slightly smaller.
There are a plethora of various bottles, tea pots and the like for purchase. All scream cuteness. The limited edition ones include Minion superheroes & Baymax.
Service was good. The cashier explained to me Roasting Water doesn't discount customers bringing in their reusable bottles like the other locations have due to health code issues. There was only a short wait before I had the Thai tea in my hand.
Parking is at the Long Beach Town Centre, with varying degrees of difficulty finding a spot based upon the time of day.
I was looking forward to having a Roasting Water closer to me, literally the next freeway exit over, but the overpowering sweetness for a drink that's supposed to be light on it & the improperly secured cork soured my first experience here. I'm sure I may stop in again for an icy drink sometime in the future, but I won't be frequent customer as I have my usual haunts whom make my drinks the way I ask them to,...
Read moreCame here for some tea and caffine, was recommended this place because it has cute cups that i didn't end up getting, but the atmosphere here is very cute, the employee was very nice, explaining to the previous customer about the gift incentives ($25 for a gift, and etc). But lets be real, i am not about to spend $25 for a gift when i can barely drink my $6 drink.
maybe if i were to run errands and have a party. but the concept is cute if you are coming with friends and can hit the mark. their tea was very flavorful, i would definitely come back for a tea. their smoothie was a bit tart (which i do like actually more than the sweet smoothies).
they use puree'd fruit which were delicious add to the smoothie. my friend had gotten it, and i would say that i would definitely come back to try that if it wasn't on a cold day.
the only sad thing is they don't have seating indoor, and only outdoor, so for winter time like today i wasn't able to hangout there or do some of my work i hoped there.
its shared parking lot with the mall, plenty parking, no bathroom though (but can walk into the...
Read moreGood tea and smoothies, but very disappointed. No special glass cups, which I drove very far to get. Instead I just got my drink in a plain plastic cup. I even called the location to see if they were open during this"quarantine" and she did not even mention that they did not have any special glass cups in stock. In the store she said they would start using the cup after the quarantine is over. When I asked her if I could redeem the cup later with my receipt, she said no and that I would have to buy another drink. So, I basically paid for a very overpriced boba drink. Not worth my $6...... Roasting water, please offer a 15% discount if you want to keep your customers happy during this quarantine since you aren't giving us the cup we pay for.
Also she needs to speed up her drink making. Very slow. And my fruit toppings kinda taste...
