I have eaten at this restaurant a few times for dinner with my fiancé as well as business meetings during their soft openings. Service was a bit slow but I always loved the food so I continued to return. They provide you with miso soup, and the nigiri has always been generous with the fish.
This morning, around 10:15am on 6/1/23, I had parked my car in the customer lot shared by Philz Coffee and Te-Buru. I was standing outside digging something out of my trunk before I headed in to Philz to grab coffee for work when a white Tesla drove in, rolled down their window, and a female Asian lady tells me I can't park in the lot and need to move my car.
Confused, I really "huh?"
Then to my right a short Hispanic man approaches me and tells me the parking lot is for their customers only. I reply, confused with "isn't this a customer lot?" And he said "yes but this is business hours." I reply again with, "well I am a customer for Philz coffee..during business hours. isn't this lot shared with Philz?" And he looks at me confused not knowing what to say and eventually replies to tell me that if I'm parking in the lot for Philz Coffee I need to park in front of the "mobile pickup order" spot. I was not there for a mobile pickup. I parked to go inside to get coffee.
The lady eventually pulls in to park in the loading zone area, as it looked like she was the owner delivering supplies for the restaurant. She tells the guy "I think it's okay" and he backed off.
I really hope that lady was not the owner because I have never experienced such level of unprofessionalism coming from this restaurant. I can't believe that I even took my business meetings meetings here and said nice things about it.
I will never return here and frankly I might even call the city and manager of Philz Coffee to report that this restaurant is preventing customers of Philz Coffee from parking here.
FYI - if you want to claim that your parking lot is reserved for your restaurants customers only I suggest you put up a sign that says so.
I have seen multiple Long Beach PD cars parking in this lot and walking over to get bagels at Cassidy's Corner. I also suggest you tell the cops they can't park there and see...
Read moreI don’t leave many reviews but this place deserves one. The baked lobster roll was to die for and it was the comfort food I needed. I tried their tempura vanilla ice cream, delicious! The restaurant is a beautiful atmosphere. I ate with a friend from 9pm to 10:30pm on a Monday. We had decided to go to the sushi/ramen place across the street but it was packed and it felt claustrophobic with no parking.
This is a perfect intimate place for a couple’s date. Or even a self-date. The waiter was attentive and professional. I was served complimentary miso soup while I waited for my friend. It’s been a long time since I’ve felt appreciated as a customer. Don’t miss out on this place. It’s a gem hidden in plain sight. Oh and their mint/lemon water was so crisp I didn’t realize I had drank so much of it without feeling full. I’m a picky eater but this place...
Read moreThis place was a random gem i stumbled upon! Started out with some tasty mint lemon water and complimentary miso soup. I got the 10 piece Nigiri, matcha tempura, and spicy tuna hand roll. The fish nigiri was soft and buttery. Definitely fresh and high quality. They have a good variety of fish on the menu. The hand roll was generous with the amount of fish they gave. The plates had cute decorative garnishes like carrot flowers and a fancy cut lemon slice. The matcha tempura was also quite big and crispy to the outside. Our waiter Min Woo was so friendly and some of the best customer service I've had in a long time. The sushi chefs greeted me when I entered as well. Felt very cozy. Overall very worth the price and experience. Nothing bad to say...
