Reminds me of the Mexican food I used to get down in Tucson. I love this place and eat here all the time even though it’s a 30 minute drive.
Most places nowadays get their food premade and essentially throw it in a microwave, fryer, or under a broiler. Mexican places like this are some of the last affordable restaurants where someone will actually cook real food. The food is made from ingredients, right there in the restaurant. Unlike the highly processed “food” that is made in a factory and shipped frozen.
And yet I see people lined up around the block to buy Burger King or Chick-fil-A or Samurai Jacks. Expensive, gross, incredibly unhealthy. It’s baffling to me.
I mention this because there is never a line at Taco Palace. The food is great, and fresh. It’s hard to describe how much better the food is than somewhere like Burger King or Arby’s. If Taco Palace is getting your income tax return 2 weeks early and $1000 more than expected, Burger King would be like getting home and your house has burned to the ground. If Taco Palace was getting your dream job, Arby’s would be like going to the hospital for a blood clot and you need to have your leg amputated. Of course, I’m not a fan of American industrialized fast “food”, but Taco Palace is at least 2-3 leagues above any of those.
There is nothing on any American fast food menu I’ve ever seen that is as good as their Adobada Fries. That’s my go-to. Their fries are great, actual nice and thick and super crispy fries. Then they basically make nachos on top, with adobada (a type of meat, I think braised). If you’ve ever had a Super Fries, it’s that but with Adobada instead of Carne Asada. They do a GREAT job making it without cheese (I ask them to add some pico and sometimes some kind of sauce). That’s not common. Most places end up making something that feels halfway between national tragedy and hate crime, an affront to food as a concept. But Taco Palace, I’m never disappointed. Ever.
Lately I’ve been getting the monster burrito. It’s like 5 meats, potatoes, egg, and cheese. I get 2-3 and then I can eat them for a couple days. The ones I get in the evening are better, they do better at grilling the tortilla and getting it nice and crispy.
I’m was sitting here eating my burrito and realized I had never even rated these guys, despite coming here dozens of times. Well, here it is. I hope you keep making great affordable food for...

Thought I would give this place a shot- definitely a regrettable decision
To start, the menu prices online are listed MUCH cheaper than what I was charged in total in store. $32 for very basic nachos and cheese enchiladas that should’ve been totaled at just over $20 is insanity. Service was mediocre at best. I rephrased what I wanted about 4 different times and gave up because the woman taking my order had no clue what I was asking for.
The food is the worst part. Terrible is an understatement. The carne asada nachos were cold and soggy. The steak was chewy like rubber, and the cheese was not melted at all. Same goes for the cheese enchiladas, cheese was not melted in the slightest. Pure laziness, from people with lazy attitudes. I had asked for green chili instead of the enchilada sauce and even paid extra for it, but was given what it originally came with and no green chili. The refried beans were gross. How on earth do you mess up something as simple as beans.
Lastly I had asked for 2 extra sides of sour cream. The total came out to $1.90. I was just about to pay and asked for one more. Then the total was $5.70. I asked about it and all she said was “yeah” over and over again. At this point I was tired and just wanted to go home so I paid it. I don’t know about you, but that doesn’t add up with my math. Everything about this place sucks and I will not...
Read morePlaced a pick up order at 6:45 and when I got there at 6:45 they hadn't even started on the order yet. The girl who came to the counter after I stood there for about 5 minutes looked at me puzzled. I told her that I had a pick up order for Dave and she came back about 10 minutes later with a pickup order for Nate. She looked at me confused when I said nope, my name is Dave. When I finally got my food, it was missing a side order of rice and my cream-filled churros. Again, she looked very frustrated when I asked her if I could get my complete order. The food was pretty good except for the churros, which were mismatched and overcooked to the point where they were inedible and no one should have been served that as food. It looked like she just randomly went back there and didn't even bother to look at what type of churro I had ordered and just grabbed two of the nastiest most overcooked churros that had been sitting there for hours and put them in the bag. There's one thing I don't accept in food service and that is serving customers food that is totally inedible. That's a rule that folks who work in food service should really adhere to and when they don't, they...
