Alfred Coffee — Restaurant in Los Angeles

Rating based on 10+ visits... My first time ever coming here was admittedly a bit difficult to find, at least via Google maps gps. It's located on Melrose Place, not Melrose Avenue! The line was long but expected, ordered in-person, and waited 20 minutes total for my drink (but as mentioned, expected). Drinks are always 5/5, though! The next handful of times--I order via mobile Alfred app, drinks say they are made ('ready!'), but when I arrive, I have to wait another 10 minutes :'( I was hoping to avoid waiting because I order via mobile Alfred app though, you know! Essentially, it is this wait situation had me minus some stars.

How I recommend doing it: Nowadays, I happily order via mobile app, but when drinks say they're ready, I make sure to arrive at least 10 minutes after, so that I can make sure they are made, and don't have to wait again when I arrive. This is the best solution that works for me.

Their Beverly Hills location, though--5/5 consistently! I order via mobile app and drinks come out fast (at least during covid). And the Beverly Hills location staff are nice! At least in my experience.

I feel like this Melrose location is sometimes understaffed. Staff is usually nice, except for one time when I came on a Sunday around 1pm (that's also during Farmer's Market hours, so it gets very busy--expect to wait for your drink!)

I would have given them 5/5 if their mobile Alfred app notification of when drinks were ready were accurate (aka actually 'ready' so I don't have to wait upon arriving), and if drinks were made quicker than 20 minutes. Besides that, taste-wise Alfred's coffee is my FAVORITE!!! Seriously the BEST lattes ever. Will continue to be coming back again...

It's really sceney-hipster teenie bopper, which makes me want to dislike it, because it resembles more of a bar (complete with obnoxious people who might think they're just so fabulous) and the parking situation is pretty scary - but at least it's possible. You at least have side streets to poke through. However, I actually enjoyed the coffee and pastries here. The Sweet Potato Parfait with Coconut Whip was intriguing and tasty. Didn't taste like sugar for no reason, which I hate. I also had a "Pain Au Chocolat" pastry thing which was also pleasantly subtle and tasty. Just as well, I found the latte to have good flavor and texture. So, I bought 3 rather unique items for around $12, which I think isn't so bad. I don't think I'd ever come here and expect to get work on a laptop done, and I might not come by on my own (too many other options for good coffee minus the nightmarish parking and ridiculously long line) but if I wanted to hang out with friends, I'd definitely feel comfortable here.

Oh, also, beware, they only have 1 bathroom. Absolutely terrible idea! Nonetheless, I'll still give this place 4 stars because i appreciate this place as more of a hangout spot than one of those cafés you can sit down in and because I found the items to be of great quality and...

I love Alfred Coffee! It's one of my go-to spots for coffee and working on my laptop during the day!

Alfred's has a very hip and chill vibe which I enjoy, and plenty of room to find a spot and get some work done while grabbing some coffee. The place where you order is actually downstairs in a basement area, while most of the seating is in the dining area upstairs. There's a big communal table, lots of counter stools, and then outdoor seating as well.

The coffee here is great and reasonably priced. The service is also very quick and efficient, especially considering how crowded and long the lines can get in here! I love getting either the mocha or the matcha latte while working here. They also have food here if you wanna grab some breakfast or lunch, including breakfast burritos! I really enjoyed the crostata pastry that I ordered one time here.

The WiFi is also very strong, so it's great for if you want to bring your laptop and do some work or studying. The interior is aesthetic as well, with chill music that isn't too loud like in some coffee shops. I also love the cute messages that they have on the walls.

A very fun and hip location that I come to regularly both for the coffee, snacks, and the chill vibe and amazing WiFi! I fully recommend...
