I know I'm late but a little over 3 years ago in April, I was solely responsible for picking up one of good friend's heavy birthday cake. I had no one with me when I picked it up. I had to travel about 60-70 miles with it to get it to the venue. The cake was so big it was put into my backseat and I could hear it slide a few times. I drove as carefully as I could but it still slid. Upon my arrival at the venue it was discovered that the back of the cake was damaged. It was kinds of late in the day and I checked with several bakeries that either the bakers were gone or they didn't want to touch anyone else's work. The people at Sweet Lady Jane's told me to bring the cake in and they would see what they could do. I took the cake and Sweet Lady Jane herself was there, unbeknownst to me at the time. She asked me the story surrounding the damage and I began to cry. I told her I had ruined 1 of my best friend's cake and special moment. She calmed me down and told me all the bakers were gone but this older gentleman I believe to be part owner was back there and he could try. I can't remember his name but he was so nice and the best. He wiped off the whole back of the cake and piped it over. He redid the birthday tag on the front of the cake as it had smeared. The cake looked better then it did before. The cake had even shifted a little bit and the guy was able to center it again. They refused to take my money and told me to use it to have fun with my friends. They offered me free pieces of cake and I think cupcakes. They were just soooo incredible. The rest of the staff were equally as accommodating. If you ever need a cake or baked goods this is definitely the place to go. Thank you Sweet Lady Jane and Mr. Nice Man for helping me. I will never forget it and I am forever...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI am so grateful to this staff at the West Hollywood location, Aron and Mel, for their suggestions, customer service and going the extra mile. Placed an online order for the Beverly Hills Store and got a call it could not be filled due to not enough inventory. The person who called me suggested other mini jars but it still was not enough for my order but never suggested mini bites. Asked the BEVERLY HILLS location on the same call if they could help locate others at other locations because I wanted several - NO, was the answer but we can cancel your order was the comment! I took a chance and went to the West Hollywood location and Aron tried to locate more then their inventory. When he was unsuccessful, he asked Mel to jump and and she suggested mini bites. Aron and Melās customer service saved a very negative review for the company. Drive further and DONāT do business with the Beverly Hills store! I guess saving a large order, and not losing business is not important to the Beverly Hills location. Aron and Mel, awesome job and you are why your location is successful- great customer service! The Cedar Sinai CSICU were grateful for your...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWhen a friend told me that this place was open until 11pm on a week night, I thought, "who gets sweets this late in LA?!" So we went around 10:30pm after dinner, and were lucky to get an open table! For a first-timer, I wasn't sure what to do -- where do I order? do I pay now or later? is there waiter service?
Here's what I learned: You order at the counter and grab a table (if there is one). A waiter will bring your order to your table. When you are done, you pay at the register.
Lots to choose from here, and I'm not a big sweets eater. I chose a Lemon Bar, which is quite small compared to some of the other options. One friend (who had been here before) got a slice of their Berry Cake, another friend got a slice of Apple Pie -- both were HUGE!! Some of the items were sold out, so the later you go, the less choices may be available.
I also ordered a coffee, which they serve at the table in a coffee press.
While we were eating, another customer came in to pickup a custom-order cake. It was beautiful, like a work of art. The quality here is first-rate!!
Parking on Melrose is always an issue, but the later you go, the more spaces...
