Read moreThe last 18 reviews are either someone who wants to hurt this business or an AI bot. If you actually read them, you’ll notice most start off with some variation of the same sentence. Same words, same structure. Some of them don’t even make sense. It felt dirty and unclean? How would that even be possible when it’s a BRAND NEW space. Definitely a bot.
I am not someone who actively seeks out sushi restaurants (raw things can sometimes freak me out) but my friend is a lover it, and we loved everything we had. The sushi is thin cut, presented beautifully and was fresh. I had the rainbow roll and my friend had the golden roll. Again, super fresh, beautiful and lovely to eat. We also had the Japanese yams and brussel sprouts. The yams absolutely melted in your mouth. Explosion of flavor. I’m still thinking about them today!
The space is clean, elegant, and full of natural light. They had roses on every table to celebrate their opening and we had multiple staff members from multiple places check in on us. Our waiter was super attentive, wait staff cleared plates multiple times, and the bartender even came to ask how our drinks were. He was very proud of his creation, the Japanese green tea typhoon. Which was amazing. Super bright tea citrus flavors and it had dry ice (I think?) which made it kind of bubble and vapor like a typhoon. Really fun to get. Please don’t be swindled by the fake reviews and check it out yourself if you’re interested. We had a great experience and I plan to take my...
Read moreI should have listened to the warning sign when we walked up to an nearly empty restaurant. But after working in restaurants for years, I know slow nights can bring out a team’s best and service here was exactly that. Formal, welcoming and very attentive.
Unfortunately, the food and odd presentation missed the mark. They added flourishes that felt performative while skipping essentials. We ordered a dirty martini and were surprised to see the olives simply smothered in gold leaf—why?
The ceviche arrived in a carved-out coconut that clearly took more effort than the dish itself. The portion was small, maybe four ounces of fish total. The flavor was there, but the value just wasn’t.
We also tried a few pieces of nigiri (more gold leaf) which ended up being the highlight. The kampachi nigiri in particular was the best bite of the night.
The NY steak, however, was a letdown. We ordered it medium-rare but it came out seared on both sides, raw in the middle and the fat was not rendered.
It was our anniversary too so that stung a little. Overall, it was a strange experience. Support Melrose but maybe...
