✈️ Ashland Hill at LAX: A Bright Spot on a Rough Day
I was having one of those days—exhausted, overwhelmed, and starving. The kind of day where everything feels heavy, and all you want is something simple, comforting, and easy. I wasn’t in the mood for a big meal, just something light to get me through. That’s when I stumbled into Ashland Hill at LAX.
Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much. I’d glanced at a few mixed reviews and figured I’d grab a quick bite and keep moving. But my experience was wonderful—so much so that I had to write this.
One of the employees, Natalie (I hope I got her name right!), completely turned my day around. She greeted me with genuine warmth and took the time to walk me through the menu, asking what I liked and didn’t like. Her attention to detail and kindness made me feel seen—something I really needed in that moment.
She recommended the pesto chicken sandwich, and let me tell you—it was perfect. Flavorful, satisfying, but not too heavy. Just what I needed.
Customer service like that makes all the difference. Natalie didn’t just serve food; she served comfort, care, and connection. Also her smile was everything ! Because of her and the overall vibe at Ashland Hill, this spot is officially on my go-to list whenever I’m traveling...
Read moreI have often visited the original location on Main street in Ocean Park and was happy initially to see an outpost at LAX.
Initially they had good coffee from Intellencia, but on my latest visit they served me dish water, barely tasting anything at all.
The food is premade and delivered only once a day early in the morning before 6 am. It is likely prepared the night before.
I made the mistake of ordering a salad wrap at 2:00 pm once and found myself with a mouthful of rotten lettuce, I felt sick for the rest of the afternoon. To add insult to injury, the coffee I had ordered with it was cold. It took 30 mins for a manager to show up to process a refund.
The breakfast sandwiches are ok, of course it's not worth the price tag, but hey! LAX has to juice its passengers to pay for the neverending parking construction!
Stay away. Especially from the food items.
They have decent beer ( for like 15$). I guess I could have given them another star based on that? The staff is nice too and the location is convenient. This place could...
Read moreAll the stars for terrible service. I don’t mind waiting in line if somewhere as crowded. I wouldn’t even have complained if the food was bad because that would not have been the staff’s fault. The problem is, this place was virtually empty and the staff were all moving at a glacial pace. They looked like they were working in a morgue rather than an airport. I’ve never seen people at an airport eatery move so slowly. I don’t mind people making mistakes or being super busy but these people looked like they were not making any effort at all and did not care.
I’d like to give the staff some credit and assume they were making an effort. I’d like to say maybe I just didn’t realize the effort they were putting in. However, they were pretty rude so I really can’t cut...
