âď¸ Ashland Hill at LAX: A Bright Spot on a Rough Day
I was having one of those daysâexhausted, overwhelmed, and starving. The kind of day where everything feels heavy, and all you want is something simple, comforting, and easy. I wasnât in the mood for a big meal, just something light to get me through. Thatâs when I stumbled into Ashland Hill at LAX.
Honestly, I wasnât expecting much. Iâd glanced at a few mixed reviews and figured Iâd grab a quick bite and keep moving. But my experience was wonderfulâso much so that I had to write this.
One of the employees, Natalie (I hope I got her name right!), completely turned my day around. She greeted me with genuine warmth and took the time to walk me through the menu, asking what I liked and didnât like. Her attention to detail and kindness made me feel seenâsomething I really needed in that moment.
She recommended the pesto chicken sandwich, and let me tell youâit was perfect. Flavorful, satisfying, but not too heavy. Just what I needed.
Customer service like that makes all the difference. Natalie didnât just serve food; she served comfort, care, and connection. Also her smile was everything ! Because of her and the overall vibe at Ashland Hill, this spot is officially on my go-to list whenever Iâm traveling...
Read moreI have often visited the original location on Main street in Ocean Park and was happy initially to see an outpost at LAX.
Initially they had good coffee from Intellencia, but on my latest visit they served me dish water, barely tasting anything at all.
The food is premade and delivered only once a day early in the morning before 6 am. It is likely prepared the night before.
I made the mistake of ordering a salad wrap at 2:00 pm once and found myself with a mouthful of rotten lettuce, I felt sick for the rest of the afternoon. To add insult to injury, the coffee I had ordered with it was cold. It took 30 mins for a manager to show up to process a refund.
The breakfast sandwiches are ok, of course it's not worth the price tag, but hey! LAX has to juice its passengers to pay for the neverending parking construction!
Stay away. Especially from the food items.
They have decent beer ( for like 15$). I guess I could have given them another star based on that? The staff is nice too and the location is convenient. This place could...
Read moreAll the stars for terrible service. I donât mind waiting in line if somewhere as crowded. I wouldnât even have complained if the food was bad because that would not have been the staffâs fault. The problem is, this place was virtually empty and the staff were all moving at a glacial pace. They looked like they were working in a morgue rather than an airport. Iâve never seen people at an airport eatery move so slowly. I donât mind people making mistakes or being super busy but these people looked like they were not making any effort at all and did not care.
Iâd like to give the staff some credit and assume they were making an effort. Iâd like to say maybe I just didnât realize the effort they were putting in. However, they were pretty rude so I really canât cut...
