Located in the heart of Westwood, Enzo's Pizzeria can be considered a hole in the wall restaurant. Complete with red-white checkered tablecloths, the Godfather posters, fresh flowers and candles, Enzo's checks every box for classic stereotype of an Italian restaurant.
Order: 14" veggie pizza with additional topping (pepperoni) Experience: 4/5 Food: 3.5/5
Thoughts: The crust was thinner than Costco pizza and a whole lot more flexible. You could do the half-fold and eat it like a New Yorker... well sort of because the crust isn't very strong at the center of the pizza so there's some flopping. The marinara sauce is not too salt or tart/acidic and doesn't overpower the toppings. The toppings were fresh and the pepperoni was thinly sliced (also not salty).
Improvements: The crust itself was made fresh but I wish that it were cooked a bit longer just to get it slightly more crisp and to give it more structure. I noticed when I flipped it over that the crust towards the center wasn't as toasted/golden as the crust towards the outside. In part, I believe it had to do with the toppings. I ordered a veggie pizza that contained tomatoes. Typically, pizza places slice the tomatoes thinly or get the type of tomatoes that don't contain as much moisture so that it is not absorbed by the crust as it cooks. I think the tomatoes could have been the reason for the slightly floppy crust and excess moisture. Nothing to complain about the toppings itself. I do wish that the sauce was slightly more herby/spiced than it was as it would have elevated the flavor profile.
A side improvement would also be installing new lights and having them on during the day. It was high noon outside when we were dining and I couldn't see my pizza very well. The interior design could use an upgrade so that it looks more modern. You can do the classic Italian restaurant look without looking decrepit or crusty (no need to copy the apartments nearby).
TLDR: Not a bad place. Not terribly good food but not terribly bad either. Kinda mid. If you wanna do a vibe check on your date, probably is your place if you don't wanna break the bank and you're expected to pay. If it turns out you really like them, Bobatime and Primos is right next door for dessert and the movies is right...
Read moreI've been coming here on "Thursday Evening's/ Nights". Due to the work I do & it being convenient. It's been months now & got to know the cashier(s) when one of the cashier's left on vacation, I guess the 2- cooks ( Latino's) decided to be very skimpy on the amount of meat & veggies on the pizza. I told the cashier upon return he was missed, cause service was not the same, nor was the serving. This happened again with another cashier & he called these 2- guys out? Opening the box & telling them " Really- Guys" put some more meat on this pizza. This past Sunday I ordered my usual medium pizza & 6- wings. To my surprise upon pulling away, I reached in & took a slice out. Upon eating it, I noticed a hard object in the cheese / veggie? I pulled over to dig it out & noticed it to be a piece of sharp object / glass. I immediately took the pizza & wings back & showed them what I discovered in the only slice I attempted to eat?? I was beyond livid with the service & product. They offered to make another pizza & said to keep the wings. I was so upset with the carelessness & customer service. I don't think I will return here & want the owner to know I will do everything in my power to not recommend anyone go here- until these 2- unappreciated clowns are replaced with people who appreciate there jobs & working in the college...
Read moreThis was my first visit to Enzo’s Pizzeria, and unfortunately, it didn’t live up to my expectations. I placed an order for a pizza and a salad, but the experience quickly went downhill.
After waiting for quite some time, I was informed that the salad I had ordered wasn’t ready. Then, when I finally received my pizza, it turned out to be the wrong order. I had to wait again for them to prepare the correct one. While I appreciated the staff’s attempt to expedite the process, it was clear that corners were cut—some of the pizza toppings weren’t evenly cooked, which affected the overall flavor and quality.
The manager did apologize for the inconvenience, which was a nice gesture. The house salad, when it finally arrived, was simple but featured crisp and fresh ingredients, so that was a small highlight in an otherwise disappointing experience.
Overall, my first visit left much to be desired. While I might give Enzo’s another chance in the future, I’ll definitely reconsider my choices before going back. Hopefully, this was just an off...
