Long story short- Don't waste your time, or money.
Let's start with how we ordered our pizza for pick up at 7:30p, and it was pushed back to 7:45p. Then it was pushed back again to 8:05p. When we arrived at 8:15, the order still showed in progress... the first big red flag...
When I showed the girl working the register, she didn't have [insert name] on her orders. It took fifteen more minutes until her other female coworker came, to talk in Spanish (I don't speak spanish, so this was a very frustrating experience) and show on the other phone the order for the pizza that they didn't make, and would need to now make... Customer service 101, apologize to the customer for the error in this, and say you'll get right on it, and make it up to them.... no I can't make this up. Both girls LAUGHED. Mind you, it is now 8:30-8:40 pm at this point, our pizza is 1 hour late. We ordered a light cheese pepperoni pizza with fresh basil... SIMPLE RIGHT?
I showed the order on my phone, told them slowly, and confirmed verbally what needed to go on the pizza. Light cheese, less, not as much... and fresh basil.
The first pizza was made wrong, not just less, but EXTRA cheese.... This came out at 8:50 or so. So, of course, now we started using a phone translator between English and Spanish because she didn't know what I was saying. So I showed them the order again and said with the translator, not as much, less cheese, and with Fresh basil...
As the second pizza was being made, I had to stop the other girl, mid cheese spreading, because she was about to put just as much cheese on as normal. I had already communicated three times, less cheese! 9:15 rolls around, and the second pizza goes in finally.
Two gentleman come in to relieve the ladies, and thankfully they speak English so I'm not so frustrated. I tell him that I wanted the pizza that they had made wrong, to at least make up for the now... 2 hours late this simple pizza is. I get an answer from the girls: NO. Seriously?! You waste my time, don't listen properly and make a pizza wrong almost twice, and won't give me the pizza I KNOW by FDA law, you are not allowed to keep, you must throw away. But instead they kept the pizza.
So I walk out after 2 hours, a very upset fiance who barely had surgery, just wanted pizza, and sat in the car the entire time.... all to get two garlic bread pieces, a pizza, and another 30 minute drive home...
The pizza was fine, I can't rate badly for that, but if I could put up a warning sign for the atrocious experience I had on their door, I would. Alas I'm forced to give one star.
Save your time, save your money,...
Read moreTried them again several days ago after not having eaten a pizza from them in like 4 years: it was a very disappointing pizza, a large pepperoni pizza for $9.99 with my coupon, but I paid an extra $2.50 for each of these toppings: basil (they hardly put any basil, an outrageous rip off of $2.50), olives (they put too many), mushrooms (they didn’t put enough, they put less than anyone would expect).
Wasn’t worth my money or my time, even with the coupon (the basic large pepperoni pizza would have cost more than $9.99 without that coupon).
What had caused me to stop getting pizzas from them about 4 years ago, besides the price hike, was this: one time (out of like 14 times buying a pizza from here) the tomato sauce tasted like a spaghetti sauce from a jar, instead of how their tomato sauce usually tasted. I’m sure that’s what they actually used that one time, like they had run out of what they usually use. And I saw another reviewer complaining about that “tomato sauce on a pizza that tastes like spaghetti sauce from a grocery store”. That happened to me only once though. But besides that, there were other times recently when the pizza tasted lackluster, either not fresh or not good ingredients, or both. But most of those times when I got a pizza from them, it tasted very fresh and good. I noticed all the low quality experiences happened lately, so along the way they went from being a good pizza place to just a mediocre. On top of that they raised the price. I have no very bad experiences to tell about this place or their food besides what I’ve mentioned already, so I would try them again but I’d rather not after reading some reviews from other people. But usually yes over a year ago the pepperoni, mushrooms and bell pepper pizza was good here, and I know what I’m talking about, but they are definitely not consistent, and I only tried two different pizza styles: usually I got the pepperoni with mushrooms and bell pepper, but one time I got a different kind of pizza from them. All together I bought like 14 pizzas from them over a time-span of maybe two years or almost two years. I recommend trying also other local pizza places like DeSano, All’Angolo, Big Mama’s and Papa’s on Vermont near LACC, etc. A warning sign about this NYCRUST pizza place is that most of their 5 star Google reviews are fake reviews, and very obviously fake. Not a good sign. They’re stupid for having so many obviously...
Read moreAlright, I gave this place attempts on three separate occasions but it's the absolute worst I've ever encountered.
First, I ordered wings and they came incredibly undercooked and made me sick the day after. Normally, I'd chalk this up to a busy day and try it again considering the star rating is pretty damn decent.
Second, I ordered a large and small buffalo chicken pizza, they messed up the order (put pizza sauce on when the normal recipe is was buffalo sauce base) and missed out the wings, and then the food came cold like it had been sitting out without being boxed or delivered.
Last but not least, the delivery company I bought from had refunded me the cost and I gave it a final try because of the lack of this type of pizza in the Los Angeles area, and they had spit in my food and messed up my order again, forgetting to give me the 3L soda.
After this, the manager had the food delivery service assistant wait on hold for 15-20 minutes and refused a refund as well as claim that the spit (clear, bubbly liquid) was ranch. This is absolutely appalling and I encourage everyone to report this restaurant to the health department and not eat here. I'll give them another shot in a year or so, but for the time being management needs to learn to treat customers better.
This is one of the few negative reviews I ever wrote, and it's a shame because the...
