I don’t often write reviews but my experience this evening left me both irritated and speechless.
I placed an order through the door dash app for pick up. I ordered for 2 people: myself, and my fiance. He got the “OG plate” and a side of the beans. I do not eat as much as he does and ordered on singular carne asada taco and a quesadilla, along with (2) drinks. Upon picking up my order the 2 gentleman working were friendly enough, the place was not busy at all, there were 4 people on the patio and no one inside. My order was bagged up and tied and ready to go. I did not open the bag there and check the contents of the bag which may have been my fault but one would assume all items would be inside. Upon returning home my fiance and I sit to eat to discover that I am missing my quesadilla. As their tacos are small I was of course expecting the additional item I not only paid for but was anticipating being able to eat. I called the store to check on the location of my said missing quesadilla and the conversation was what left me irritated and speechless. The gentleman answers the phone and I explain I’ve just picked up my door dash order, driven all the way back home (15 minutes) and have sat down to discover I am missing the item. He then asks me to wait a moment where I here him go off and have a muffled conversation in the background and then comes back on and states that they have my said missing quesadilla and that I need to come back to the store with the ENTIRE order so I can get my quesadilla. As my husband is 5 bites into his meal already I a am a bit flustered and ask “can I not just come get my quesadilla? You want me to bring back the rest of my order, my hot food, that was not for me and is currently being eaten, to acquire my one quesadilla that you did not put in my bag?” He replies stating “well some people try and say stuff isn’t in there and it is so you just need to bring everything back and we will hand over the quesadilla” - at this point I’m shocked, I’m pissed, and I’m honestly turning into a Karen because HOWWWWWW did you just point blank tell me YOU HAVE MY MISSING QUESADILLA but that also people lie about the items that may or may not have when again you LITERALLY JUST SAID YOU DID NOT PUT IT IN MY BAG.
Needless to say I did not drive the additional 15 minutes with the food I already brought back home to go pick up one item to come back home and eat cold food.
I ate my one singular taco which was terrible, the meat was so hard to chew, I basically just ate tortilla, lime and sliced radish…..so very very disappointing.
If you chose to order from here CHECK YOUR BAG. If you are missing an item be prepared to drive all the way back with all of your food despite how far you may live and despite them owning up to not putting something in your bag. The whole experience was just aggravating. The restaurant seemed clean and the patio was nice though. My fiance did enjoy his OG plate and the beans were decent. You’ll have better luck going to a taco stand on the Blvd for better...
Read moreI have had birria before but never quite like this. This was amazing and all of the different complex flavors of the birria seemed to dance across my tongue and delight my senses. I had gotten the O.G. Burrito with the beef birria and was delighted to find that they include a good amount of consume which is a product of the 16 hour smoking cycle. I have already forgotten what the wood was called that they use for the smoking process but it added a really nice smokey flavor to the beef and the consume. You could also tase all of the spices they use when smoking the beef and everything seems to be balanced to perfection. I would say that the burrito has a medium amount of heat spiciness to it without adding any other sauce or salsa other than the consume. If you are sensitive to spiciness, this might not be the best place for you since the food starts at a medium level and will go up from there. They do not have a very large menu but so far, what they do offer on their menu is amazing and oh so flavorful, The O,G, Burrito was also large enough to eat half for lunch and save the other half for dinner. The pandemic has not been kind to this location as far as restaurants staying in business. I sincerely hope that changes this time around. Papi Tacos & Churros offers unique flavors that we don't often get from Mexican restaurants. It certainly is not your standard Mexican Restaurant and as such everyone should give it a try. You might just find yourself eating the best burrito you have...
Read moreMy grandson and I were going to a new venue for a show and what is better than trying new eateries. My grandson, Buddy, was insistent that he wanted Mexican food.
As we drove along he looks at all the restaurants and waits and waits until he finds Papi Churro, a new restaurant, that is mostly outdoors ( fully enclosed beautiful patio with a fire pit). but it has a large indoor ordering section.
They are a street food type Mexican restaurant and they have a decent, but not huge selection. You walk in and order at the counter. You pay and they start straight away making your meal. We ordered a lot of food so we could really try everything. Once your food is ready you can take it to go or eat in the really pretty enclosed patio right out the doors.
The service is really nice. Everyone there is super friendly and will help you with the menu.
We loved their quesadillas and the churros. We also had rice and beans with avocado on the side and a burrito as well as chicken tacos. All of it was made right in front of us and all of it was so fresh. It really is great Mexican Street Food.
Now, for me, it was a tad too spicy so if you don't like spice go elsewhere. But other than that it was truly great and I will be back, just mindful of what I can't eat. You will love it.
Parking is free and easy in their lot. The prices are fair, not cheap. The service, again, is...
