Sonder the Craftsman is not just a place to stay it is a masterpiece of hospitality, design, and comfort. The moment I stepped through the door, I knew I had found something extraordinary. It is like walking into a luxury hotel, a boutique Airbnb, and a high end design showroom all at once, but warmer, more thoughtful, and far more personal. This space is a true reflection of craftsmanship, care, and soul. Every inch of the property is impeccably designed. The flow of the layout is seamless, intuitive, and calming, like the space was designed to breathe with you. Clean lines, natural textures, curated art, and soft lighting all work in harmony to create an environment that feels both inspiring and grounding. There is a sense of intentional stillness in the air, like the house itself is holding space for you to relax, reflect, and recharge. The room was fully stocked and equipped beyond my expectations. We are talking everything: a truly full kitchen with quality appliances, cookware, and utensils including sharp knives and a proper coffee setup, making it easy to cook, host, or unwind with a glass of wine. The bed is utterly divine. It felt like sleeping in a cloud wrapped in luxury linens. The furniture was modern yet inviting, clearly custom crafted or hand selected with purpose. Every chair, table, and surface felt like it belonged not just functionally, but artistically. There is also a secure safe in the room, which added an extra layer of comfort and peace of mind, especially for longer stays. The little things really add up here: plush towels, thoughtful lighting, smart storage, even the scent of the space, it is all perfectly tuned to make you feel at home and spoiled at the same time. And the best part is it does not feel pretentious or overdone. It feels real. You can tell the people behind Sonder the Craftsman genuinely care about their guests, their craft, and the experience they are creating. This is not just a business. It is a labor of love.||||Whether you are traveling for work, taking a solo retreat, escaping the chaos for a weekend, or simply craving inspiration, I cannot recommend this place highly enough. It is rare to find a stay that feels both luxurious and soul nourishing. I have never felt so immediately at peace somewhere. Sonder the Craftsman is more than five stars. It...

Read moreI was intrigued as to which such high rated hotel will offer such low rates. I personally visited both Sonder Winfield and this property and soon knew why:
This chain is definitely not in the league of the great hotels or even the good chains as their branding would have you believe. Main reason is their locations are really shanty abandoned areas where they have renovated some kind of retail place.
Beyond expensive renovation they have nothing else a hotel chain should offer and that’s shocking for international frequent travelers.
Service is non existent with very low profile (and possibly low paid) front desk staff. Even if they are well meaning it doesn’t help much as they are not backed up by other management who remotely control them but never drop into the property so they have no way to solve problems or situations.
They have their security clean the lobby etc on best effort basis and the lobby does look dirty even though it looks like it was built tastefully.
Their payments system struggled to take a 250 dollar fee for hours rejecting multiple cards and they couldn’t take cash or sort it out. In all those hours nobody helped the poor front desk lady to see if this was due to crowdstrike or something else and come up with an alternative.
I finally got fed up and moved to the AC hotel a few blocks away - it’s a much much better alternative. Please go to AC Hotel or Moxy - even if you spend some more dollars you will be safe and enjoy good service.
The same cards which couldn’t take the 250 dollar fee for 4 hours in Sonders took the new check in fee in seconds and I was into a much more superior lobby and room in minutes. The payment system that they try to use is flawed and returns message of “insufficient funds” or “declined” to international travelers. Either it’s due to crowdstrike or there is some other issue. I tried 7 cards and all had problems and the poor front desk lady kept going in loops trying them over and over having a security lock on many of those cards in the process. And their “managers” who give remote instructions to the front desk are too busy to problem solve and serve the customer.
Marriotts were sad to hear of my experience and upgraded the room and offered breakfast on them listening to my horrible...
