Awesome Mexican spot near Venice Beach! There were definitely a few misses which I will detail, but overall this place was very good and fresh.
First off: I got the combo which included every main item on the menu (this costed $18? If I'm remembering correctly, and 22 with a drink) and gave me a good chance to taste everything. Personally, if you're not sure what youd prefer, I'd recommend going for the combo as well, it gives you a good taste of everything and I definitely didn't regret getting it.
The quesadillas were phenomenal, with juicy meat and just the right balance of cheese to prevent it from being too overpowering. I greatly enjoyed them and it was probably my favorite thing on the combo.
The Meat Broth they give you is undoubtedly the best thing about the combo. It ties everything together and not only gives you a kind of soup you can eat but also a good way to dip everything you are given in the combo and make it taste super good. It is rich and definitely the best broth I've ever had.
The hard tacos overall were ok, I definitely wasn't as impressed with them as the soft taco, as the hard tacos felt a little stale almost. This is where the broth came into play big time, moisturizing the food and giving it an extra layer.
The soft tacos were great and met all my expectations, it was incredibly with the broth as well.
The tortilla chips personally felt like the weakest link, but it gave a good way to pick up the dropped food and help eat the rest of the broth once everything else was eaten.
If you're not using the lime they give you for the tacos, you're throwing. It along with the meat broth elevated the food and brought out fresh and rich flavors that I have never really experienced at a Mexican food spot before. The outdoor area is also beautiful, being able to see the sunset and the beach.
Overall, I would 100% recommend you visit here for authentic, delicious...
Read moreBest way to find out about what Teddy's Red Tacos has to offer is by ordering a Deluxe Plate. It's perfect size for 2 to split and taste a taco, tostada, mulita, quesadilla, and Caldo (Conzume).
My favorite was the quesadilla and my fiance loved their Mulita. Birria is their only meat option but you dont need any other option because its delicious, flavorful and best Birria I've had in LA and pretty much in my life.
This will soon be a popular tourist trap like eggslut is around the corner. While sitting and enjoying our Deluxe plate, everyone in the restaurant was ordering their secons round from how delicious round 1 was. Teddy is famous from its taco truck on the railroads near downtown but so glad we were blessed qith a westside location. Now i can enjoy the beach and finish off the day with delicious tacos. Try them out today! You wont regret the juicy flavor from this shredded beef (Tijuana style)!
Music was also bumpin' at this place with a nice mix of Latin and English music, friendly service that makes sure you're enjoying everything on their menu.
The only small downside that I didnt enjoy fully was the side of 3 tostadas that go along with the Caldo (conzume soup). I like tostadas crispy crunchy. But i had one that was half dipped in the red birria sauce, so it was half white while the other two were fully red. But they were also soft and chewy so not as enjoyable. I wouldnt knock it down a star for that since everything is perfect but soft tostadas are...

The restaurant closed at 10 whereas the truck closes at 7. Came here for a late dinner prior to going to Townhouse (it’s right next door). Prices are cheap and the food is delicious - you have to come here.
Shoutout to the cashier working. He was super friendly and entertained my questions about whether or not the food displayed is real (spoiler alert - it is). He chatted with us right up until our buzzer rang for our food pickup. The tacos themselves were so flavorful and the birria so tender - I’m honestly surprised that tacos like these exist in the heart of Venice. I had them vampiro-style, which had the cheese on the bottom, and just had two since I was feeling peckish. You can get the deluxe platter so you can sample all the different types of options, including the broth and the mulita. They do take credit card and there’s one bathroom available. You can get a large water cup, which you’ll need to ease the spiciness of the salsa. Can’t wait to come...
