maybe the best dive on this side of the city, which is a lost art on this side of the country. great and interesting bartenders who pour em strong - all attentive and interested in you having a good time, and they don't mind a good one themselves. come here to drink long and cheap, or just for a quick beer and bite in a crazily decorated but amazing vibe with a tip of the cap to chicago. the music is, literally, always good - thank a mix of pandora, which apparently is still alive and well, and curation from the bartenders for the musical vibes. still, almost every night the music is live past 9pm. stay long and treat yourself to the food, as the kitchen is open late, and the cooks kill it with a menu for everyone, especially as it comes to bar food - solid burgers, sandwiches, and dogs plus maybe the best wings for the price in the city, especially on mondays. don't overthink the neighborhood - this is an amazing place with a parking lot attached where everyone seems to mind their own business. in general, and especially for los angeles, you can't beat...

Great wings, loaded fries, subs, tacos, fish & chips, burritos, & fun twists on burger favorites, like the Captain Kangaroo: gravy smothered hash browns & egg on a patty or the Dolly Parton: buffalo sauced, buttermilk fried chicken sandwich & one of my favorites, the John Bleu Cheese burger that is battered, deep fried, tossed in buffalo wing sauce, then topped with bleu cheese. Groovy alternative + underground music including live bands on weekends. Cool dark atmosphere inside with lots of red lighting + crazy animal trophy heads on walls, sort of a weird David Lynch hunting vibe that's hip right now. Bar looks very legit old school fancy wood from old times. There's a nice, large covered outdoor seating area with fire burners for extra ambience. Fun menu of good bar food like smash burgers, wings, fries, fish + chips, etc. which are on special deals during Happy Hour (until 8pm). Big variety of beers + spirits. I like the deal on ice cold Hamm's tall boys for only $6! Great place to bring a date or to meet friends.
