My motto in life as is in Yelp is always under promise and over deliver so I apologize in advance if my review is too good to live up to but Tip's House is the best Thai joint I've ever had PERIOD. So much so that if I was not so lazy, I would go subtract 1 star from all other Thai places I gave 5 stars to because this place is that much better than the rest, especially if you're comparing to Thai restaurants in or around Ktown to DTLA. I'm talking about in terms of flavor, quality, freshness, portions, price, and customer service. Yes, this place is that much better than the rest.

There's a reason why this little cute hole in the wall restaurant has been in business for 25+ years. All the locals nearby know and swear by it. If you've never been, give it a try! If you've never had Thai food or if you're not well versed in Thai food, pick up the phone and the nice lady who's always there will help you. People who run this place is super nice, kind, and patient. (I say "people" but I've only dealt with this one lady who I presume to be the owner or maybe the daughter of the owner.)

Food is just unbelievably DELICIOUS!!! Portions are VERY GENEROUS, especially for the price. You get a good 1.5x more than most places. Food is super fresh, made to order. They are currently still serving during this COVID pandemic. The two times I've been during the COVID situation, they had parking space available literally right in front of the restaurant and the nice lady brought my food out right away. I mean for goodness sake, how many Thai places do you see pack hot sauce and picked jalapenos when you didn't even ask for them?!?! This place really cares about their customers as they should! (Restaurants like this has really disappeared and it's so unforunate!)

Shrimp Pad Thai is a must. YES!!! I was never a big Pad Thai fan but yes, this is a must. Chicken Pad See Yew is bomb! Panang Chicken curry is super delicious! We tried the garlic beef today which was amazing. (Beware: You will be blowing out garlic breath like a Dragon for the rest of the day if you get this garlic beef tho.) All this for exactly $40.50!!!

My wife and I eat like the dinosaurs in Jurassic Park and we still have just as much food left over for dinner. I keep forgetting to take pics because we're just so excited but I promise I'll post...

This is more of a fast casual place, where you place your order and they bring the food out for you. Very kind customer service but there is not waiters atm. They give real metal silver wear but they give the food out as well as you eat off of paper plates. Not a big issue for me personally.

Very veryyyyy clean! Really clean tile floor and I really like the photography around the walls and plants c:

We ordered two Thai teas, pad see shrimp, tum yum shrimp, and massaman curry with tofu. Had to order 2 “large” orders of rice separately cause none of the dishes come with rice.

The steamed rice servings were very small. One large serving is these small scoops of white rice. So one real scoop of rice. Felt kinda cheated here tbvh haha

Pad see was bomb! Everything was cooked very well! No complaints really!!!

massaman curry was thick and yummy as well as the tofu being fried just enough! I, personally, don’t get raw bell pepper on top or finely chopped peanut when I order this dish in other places. Although I enjoyed the new experience with the bell pepper, wasn’t really able to get a good taste of the peanuts when it’s done this way, which I’m not a fan of cause I love having that certain texture when eating this dish. Regardless the dish was really great, would prob try a different curry next time.

The soup looked amazing. All the spices were there, very flavorful but there was no salt so it was lackin sadly. But woooo if it had the pinch of salt when cookin it would be really amazing.

Serving size and price was a miss for me but regardless...

#7 BBQ pork spare rib & thai iced tea.

Those words don't even need to come out of my mouth, as I have been a repeat customer here for the last 13 years and they know me like family now. My mom has been coming here since 1991, and swears it hasn't changed a bit since. Tip's House has had exceptional food and service since the first time I walked through the glass door.

The dressing they use for the starter salad is unbelievable, causing me to buy a small container every time i pass by (They technically don't sell it to customers, but they know i travel far to visit them). The sauce they use for their BBQ is delicious as it doesn't over power the rich flavors of the spare rib. The egg rolls are probably the best I have ever had, perfectly crunchy, with the most balanced sweet & sour sauce to go along with it.

My mom and grandma swear by the spicy garlic shrimp which also looks like a mouth-watering delicacy of its own.

Needless to say, this is one place that I hope never changes, because it's not just the great food that makes Tip's House have an emotional connection with my past, but their attention and devotion to caring for customers...

I had high expectations from all the positive reviews, but my dine-in experience definitely fell short in service, food and atmosphere. :-( We were n town and stopped by because of the good reviews. But the food we ordered was mediocre. We ordered paht Thai, paht see ew and a side of pickled cucumbers. Very simple food with not much ingredients or flavor and no heat at all, plus no chili paste offered to us. I just don't see how people can rate the food so high. They must have never experienced Thai food anyplace else. The portions are small for the price, which the server warned us about, but I thought the quality would be higher. She didn't seem happy that we didn't want an order for each person in our group (three young kids, 2 adults). The Thai iced tea was good. The sodas are served in a can even though the menu makes it seem like they are fountain drinks. There was no one else in the small eatery during lunch hours. Maybe it's mostly to-go orders? There is a $20 minimum order if you want to use credit cards. There is metered street parking.

Heeeey this place is pretty good! So unsuspecting, had no idea it existed until I moved close by and saw it while driving by. The staff are so friendly and they put so much care into their food. Portions are huge and prob the best crab fried rice I’ve had in LA. Make sure to bring cash, if your bill is under $20 I believe.
