Before my visit to this restaurant, I took the time to peruse the reviews to gain a preliminary understanding of what to expect. The occasion was an invitation to celebrate my uncle's 90th birthday, and the gathering was held at this restaurant. The event brought together more than 100 attendees, and we were situated on the second floor for a buffet-style lunch.
I recognized that the nature of buffet-style service might introduce some variations in terms of freshness and food temperature compared to individually served dishes. As I arranged my plate, I noticed that the quantity of food available surpassed the capacity of a single plate, which is certainly a testament to the restaurant's generous offerings. On the whole, the dining experience was satisfactory.
However, I couldn't help but notice a minor setback regarding the cleanliness of the chairs. Given the restaurant's reputation, I had expected impeccable hygiene standards. Unfortunately, there were visible food stains on some of the chairs, which did raise a concern. My sister even hesitated to take her seat due to this issue.
In an effort to enhance the overall experience, I would suggest a few improvements. Firstly, attention to the cleanliness of the chairs is essential, aligning with the restaurant's name and reputation. Additionally, focusing on the upkeep of the restroom facilities and introducing tasteful decorations and scents would contribute to a cleaner and fresher atmosphere throughout the establishment. These thoughtful enhancements could significantly elevate the...
Read moreI guess this is the place for traditional Korean family gatherings. Came here to celebrate grandma's 90th bday. My uncle had reserved one of the private rooms on the first floor, which comfortably accommodated the 40 some-odd well-wishers. They had the buffet set up against the wall, and there was a projector screen and podium, as well as a large table of honor at the front of the room for grandma and grandpa (see photo).
The food was pretty good, tasted very homey. I ate most everything but skipped the kalbi jjim (braised short ribs) and the tang soo yuk (like a sweet and sour pork)--they didn't look that appetizing to me. I liked the the fried fish cakes, dumplings, and the various side dishes. The miso-based soup was pretty good, but it was weird to eat that out of styrofoam cups and a plastic spoon. Were they really out of proper dishes and utensils? There were regular plates and utensils for the other stuff, though. The best part was watching the white hubby eat the so-called "desserts"--an especially unsweet assortment of rice cakes that all the old people like. One kind was so unsweet it was akin to eating an eraser coated with bean powder. Yeah, he was kind of sad. :D Service was pretty decent, with a waitress devoted to our room fetching us water pitchers, distributing the cakes, etc. All in all an OK experience. I doubt I'd come back here just for the food--there are plenty of places closer to me that are just as good, but if you ever get invited to some Korean family gathering here at least you'll know the food...
Read moreI was there to treat my non-Korean business partner a Korean course meal. I have to admit I never like the idea of a course meal so maybe I am biased.
At first, I thought the price was outrageous but reluctantly rationalized it as a course meal. However, the whole dining experience there really did not change my initial impression. The dishes did not appear to be authentic or traditional to me and tasted rather bland to me except for the fish (a replacement of pork but was rather salty). The service was not impressive either. All they did was bringing out the dishes and they never paid attention to the needs of the customers. I had to walk up to the front to ask for an extra pair of chopsticks and forks to bone the fish and the change of the plates. I may be one of those impatient ones but the server was hardly around our table except for the time she brought out the dishes. In a way, it may be an inherent problem of this 'course meal' because the servers are busy bringing out the dishes. It was supposed to be a business lunch but I really could not focus on the conversation.
I truly regretted that I took her there and do not think I will ever go to one of these places on my own, especially if I have to pay. I hope the management of the restaurant reads this so that they could think about how to improve customers'...
