Rakong Thai restaurant — Restaurant in Louisiana

Pulled in for my usual passing thru on I-12 stop only to discover a weird fluke..Zea's next door is closed on Tuesdays?? Hungry so looked for something good nearby. Saw Raking Thai tucked next to Johnny's burgers and as I love the flavors of Thai, decided to give it a try as the ratings looked good.

I definitely like that you have the option for vegetables instead of meat in your Curry or other dish. And it was a nice selection of vegetables to do! :-) the flavor was good however I have panang curry which was supposed to be spicy and wasn't. :-( also the curry and the chicken and rice soup that came with it both had a sweet taste. They should be Savory not sweet so they no doubt have added sugar because none of the ingredients are sweet in and of themselves. That was pretty disappointing.

Downside, it says on goggle maps they are open until 230pm, but they turned the open sign off at 12:15pm, so planning a stop here intentionally could be an epic fail as the posted hours aren't...

I cannot say enough awesome things about this place. It is by far the best Thai around. After the first day of trying this place, my wife and I ended up going there another 6 days in a row for lunch; and I'm far from the kind of person that eats the same place more than a day in a row. The Pad Thai here is hands down the best I've ever had. Shrimp are always cooked to perfection; never over cooked. Oh and did I mention the Golden Duck with the chili sauce? AMAZING. There are so many things I could go on about, the red curry, the steamed dumplings, the garlic stir fry, all the best I've had around here. Do yourself a favor and go try this place today if you haven't already. Don't just take my word for it, even my mother in law, who literally complains every time she goes out to eat did not have a single negative word to say about this place!!

Well my original plan was just to write a review but now I'm starving and about to go order...

Update 03/15/2024 We couldn't resist another visit! We were visiting friends in the area and returned to this Thai restaurant. We were so delighted to do so! Once more, it exceeded our expectations. The food is simply amazing, the staff is friendly, and the prices are great. We highly recommend it!
