We showed up and there was a long wait which is a good sign for brunch that the place is good. The place had been open for about 6 or 7 weeks at this point. We decided to sit at the bar and got a seat in just a few minutes. They were obviously very busy so the service by the bartender was not the best, but that's understandable. We were having a good time and didn't mind.
After we ordered our food the wait was a bit on the long side but again not horribly long, and on a relaxed Sunday we didn't mind. I ordered the Reuben sandwich. The pastrami was good and piled high. The sauerkraut had a good tang to it. The marble rye was a little disappointing. It had just the faintest of rye flavor.
My wife got eggs benedict or as they call it there, the Arnold. This was disappointing. Her first egg yoke was totally set like jello instead of the delicious runny sauce of a typical poached egg. Her second egg was set to the point of a hard boiled egg, think the grainy chalky look of the yolk. I'd like to think that they were off their game on this day, but the person next to us who got just a poached egg dish obviously got something similar to us. I'm not judging this review from another person's dish, but it seems to confirm that this was likely not an isolated case. The English muffin could hardly be called toasted as it was soft. My wife also got a side of grits which clearly included black pepper. This was not their own style of grits or a dish with a special name, just grits. My wife doesn't care for black pepper at all and ended up not eating the grits. I'll say that I liked it and I may start adding pepper to my grits. But clearly the menu should have made some mention of black pepper.
We might give this place another try in case I'm friends want to try it out as...
Read moreWhere do you even start when you literally wait 10 minutes after being sat before anyone even recognizes that you're there. Sadly at least 6 different employees, including who I believe is the owner, walked past us without any of them actually getting us. Finally a server, not our server asked if we needed drinks, not a great start. Finally "our" server showed up, got us drinks, took our orders, but really didn't know the menu. I don't eat pork, so obviously explained to have no sausage that would normally come with a breakfast burrito. Not a difficult request, I thought. Food showed up, we're now a little over 30 minutes into the visit, I ask about the sausage and was told there was no sausage in my burrito. She left, I opened the burrito and, what a shock, there was sausage. After between 10-15 minutes more of, just looking at my food I could not eat, we had to get the attention of a different server to get our server to fix the problem. My friend's had been done eating, so not just me, we were all made to wait until my food got made again and I basically had to shovel it down, we don't get forever on lunch break. And by the way, it appeared we were the only table that server had for the first 30 minutes of our visit. She got a second table that also looked confused as to why no one greeted them for a long time. We explained about the awful service we encountered and wished them luck. WORST thing about it all, no one (except our server) ever came and apologized. Not sure this...
Read moreHey y'all! This place is the go-to! I walked up to the door, toddler on hip and was greeted by a host who opened the door for me! Already a great start. We asked for a booth and were immediately accommodated and all the staff was incredibly friendly, patient and accepting of my wild 2yr old which was a huge thing for us! The kids plates are well priced and adult sized. This is a Texas joint that gives Ruby Slipper vibes, so great mixed drinks, BIG portions (cause you know what they say about Texas) and perfectly cooked food! My husband ordered a Ruben sandwich which is what he judges restaurants by. If they can make that simple sandwich well then he knows it's a good place. The sandwich did not disappoint! As soon as he bit into it he exclaimed about how good it was then shoved it at me to taste! 🤣 the pastrami was top notch, probably the best I've had. My son had the kids pancakes, they were perfectly fluffy and delicious I love that all the kids food comes with fruit. Now for myself, I got the Alaskan Benedict which features a THICK cut of perfectly cooked salmon. I was so impressed. Perfectly grilled, juicy salmon is NOT an easy feat to accomplish, especially during a Saturday rush! All my compliments, every item that touched our table was perfectly cooked and perfectly seasoned. The owners are super sweet and friendly as well. We chatted with them on our way out and they were just such an enthusiastic bubbly couple! Great place, great food, great atmosphere. I'm glad...
