Would have been 5 stars because this is probably the best venue for dance music in the city, and i had a great time, but there were some problems. I bought tickets online before the event and got in fine. My buddy came later and when I went to the door to scan him in, security refused to scan the ticket saying, " no that's for you", and made them pay another 10 bucks on top of the 20 we spent online. Don't know how else to describe that except a scam. I checked the ticket the next day and it said nothing about being non transferable. Also, we could not remember the last time we went to a live music venue and were booted out so fast. We left as soon as the artist walked off stage, along with everyone else, and security was immediately shouting to leave! I never stopped walking to the door and got at least 3 reminders from them. How nice. I felt bad for the vendors as well, who surely had the prime selling time cut short since nobody was allowed to mingle. They did not let you use the bathroom and insisted we couldn't even wait in the lobby for our uber. There is no coat check, and most of the people were lightly dressed waiting for a 20 min uber in Febuary outside. Newsflash to management: if you're going to book decent talent and expect people to stay the night, you have to let them leave with...
Read moreThis review is based on the interactions of someone claiming to be a staff member in the street. We did not eat at or enter the business as it was closed.
While standing outside another business in the same block as Galaxie, a man approached us and started making small talk. We kept the conversation high-level and generic, until he said he was the owner of Galaxie (it was not Thor) and invited us into the closed business. We politely declined, but he continued to pressure us.
He then entered the business to try to pressure our friend, despite our ongoing objections, to leave so we would join him at Galaxie.
While in the business he stuck his hand in my face and said I’m married, before continuing that his wife would think what he was doing was weird and accusing me of flirting with him. He then approached other customers in the store and asked one of the children her age before a staff member had to intervene and sent him outside.
We find it important for Galaxie to understand how this man is representing the business and the community to know how he is interacting with women...
Read moreWe tried Galaxie on a whim and it turned into a great choice in the NuLu area. We went there for tacos that while looked and were topped with less than normal toppings, were absolutely phenomenal and writing this now reminds me I honestly want some more. Don’t be afraid to try something that sounds weird, between the ones we got none were bad. The loaded cheeseburger fries are another must-try; they’re as satisfying as they are delicious.
Whether you’re in the mood for a laid-back dinner date or a late-night meal to sober up, Galaxie’s menu fits the bill. Just a word of caution: steer clear of their margaritas, they’re dangerously good and strong. The bartender also said that later in the night, the back room turns into a fun, dance club type vibe, adding another exciting layer...
