They RIPPED ME OFF $30 (which includes the generous tip I had given them, which ultimately I should’ve taken back afterwards but I didn’t (you’re welcome!)). They acted like I’d picked up my order (I was under the impression that they were going to deliver my stuff to the # I had received and put on my table. They’ve delivered drinks to my # before so I thought I’d clear up space at the bar and wait at my table for the drink and food). When I went about 10 min. later to ask about it to one of the bartenders kindly, he made the drink and asked me for 10 MORE dollars. I told him I’d already paid and was just checking on the status of my drink. He then told me rudely that they wouldn’t be serving me any more alcohol even though I’d ordered a drink and fries (neither of which I’ve received), and it had been 15-20 min. with nothing having been given to me. I gave him the benefit of the doubt as someone who also works in the service industry and told him I understood where he was coming from (even though he was incorrect) since they were fairly busy. I went BACK up in line 5 minutes later and asked a different bartender for my drink (the fries I could wait on, I get it the kitchen is busy I’m not complaining) , and was trying to show him the receipt for my order. He refused to engage with that (or me in general) in a polite manner. He told me I was lying about who I ordered my drink from and then told me I was “cut off” from the bar and that neither he nor anyone else would serve me any more alcohol (well that’s funny bc I didn’t get any in the first place!). These were TWO different bartenders working the night of Saturday 6/15/24 around 11-ish PM.
They were VERY rude and assumed I had been drinking all day b/c they ASSUMED I’d gone to the Pride Festival and ALSO that BECAUSE I was maybe at Pride that I MUST have been drunk. Interesting… Not a very “cool and hip” thing to do at a “cool and hip” bar. Never got my food and obviously never got my drink, even though I had asked both of these bartenders KINDLY and told them I had PROOF of my order. In return, I received rude, presumptuous comments that made me feel like I was a crazy person who NEEDED to be cut off, rather than someone just looking to have a drink to cap off their otherwise pleasant night (this ruined my pleasant night!).
I have NEVER left a negative review at any bar or restaurant before (I don’t really believe in doing that b/c everyone has their screwups), but after this experience I had to say something because I felt so disrespected and patronized by these two men after NOT ONLY tipping them 40+%, but also 1) Being understanding of the circumstances (lots of people tonight, okay I get it but everyone in the service industry has dealt with that? It comes with the job lol), and 2) Being made to feel crazy when all I did was ask for what I PAID FOR. I’ve come here several times before, but this was the last time.
I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone and will actually actively DISSUADE everyone I know from going here. I’ve lived in Lou my whole life, so that’s a lot of people…
I’ve never been treated that way before (nor ripped off!). They are JUDGMENTAL and NOT willing to reflect on mistakes THEY had made behind bar or figure out how to troubleshoot a simple problem. As someone also in the service industry, I would never treat a customer the way I was treated (or just a fellow human being in general). If you can’t be nice, at least be respectful jesus christ.
My only regret is that I didn’t demand a refund, but at that point I just tried to be the bigger person. The second bartender told me I was “banned” from the bar so how can I even TRY to get my money back after that if they refuse to accept that they’re in the wrong and/or have a normal adult conversation? Insane…..
I would give 0 stars if I could
Read moreWhat a great place! My girlfriend and I happened upon this place while staying in Louisville for the night and we are so glad we did. Everything about the meal was good and if I every pass through Louisville again I know where to stop for my first meal.
We each had one of their custom bourbon cocktails, while a bit on the sweet side, were super tasty. We split two of their local hams, house made pickles, a Caesar salad and the pepperoni pizza. The hams tasted fresh and paired well with the house made sauces and bread that they came with. As passers-by we found being able to sample the local products was a treat. The pickles were tart, crunchy and refreshing (seriously, you should try them!). We loved the Caesar salad, the dressing was spot on and the fried kale and anchovies showed a lot of thought had gone into it. The Neapolitan style pizza had a great crust, crispy yet chewy, with some nice char on it—as it should have. The local pepperoni they put on it was delightful and the milled tomato sauce had a nice velvetiness. The only complaints were a lack of spiciness despite the pizza having fresh jalapeño and the milled sauce tasted a bit tinny.
The decor is young and hip, the crowd too. The service was impressive considering it was a friday night, every table was packed and the bar was a buzz. Our drinks and food arrived quickly, our waitress was helpful in answering all our questions and we never found ourselves looking around trying to find her. Midway through our meal the manager came by and asked us how we were doing. Normally this kind of thing happens when something has gone wrong but not in this case, she just wanted to make sure everything was going well. I highly...
Read moreMy husband and I love to try new restaurants and I personally LOVE pizza! Not chain pizza, but the real deal, brick oven, hand-tossed, pizza. Garage Bar had great reviews so we gave it a shot tonight. As we walk in, the environment is fun and thematic and we were seated without a wait. We decided on a chicken pizza ($16) with onions and goat cheese which is right up our alley and a meatball appetizer ($9). First came the meatballs which were very tasty but the serving was much too small to share and probably worth $4 instead of the $9 that we paid. Our pizza was soon to follow and it looked delicious. My first bite was anything but. The chicken on the pizza was very off-putting and almost tasted like it had gone bad. We tested every other part of the pizza and it was all very good. We waited for our waitress to come by and brought it to her attention. She seemed irritated and did not believe that it was the chicken that was bad but that it was our taste buds. She provided many explanations to the odd taste but we kindly insisted that it just wasn’t right. We ordered a margarita pizza ($11) in its place but our waitress offered no apology or care about our experience. She was very cold for the remainder of our meal and seemed frustrated that we had requested a new pizza. Our margarita pizza came out after a few minutes and it was good but very skimpy. All of the ingredients tasted good together but again, very poor quality effort putting it together. All in all, we will not be visiting Garage Bar again and will not suggest...
