Nouvelle Bar & Bottle — Restaurant in Louisville

It really bums me out to write this review. My best friend and I had an absolutely lovely time at a wine-tasting a couple weeks ago. The wine was phenomenal, the service impeccable. In addition to the $20 ticket, we also split a divine cheese plate and purchased two bottles from the tasting menu.

Sadly, because the demand had outstripped supply, the wine we selected wouldn't be available right away. We were asked to come back at a later date to pick it up.

Fast-forward to roughly a week later, I was out celebrating my birthday in NuLu and after singing Nouvelle's praises to my eight companions, we decided to swing by, pick up our wine, enjoy their lovely patio and indulge in some more of those scrumptious cheese boards. Sadly, upon entering the bar, I was informed that in order to serve me the wine I had already paid for - which had been delayed because the owner hadn't ordered enough to meet demand - there would be a corkage fee of roughly $20 a bottle. The bar was not full, we were not taking up seats that would otherwise be filled and we intended to order not only food, but likely more wine.

I expected a small corkage fee, but TWENTY dollars per bottle to cork wine I had purchased (for less than $20) from this establishment seemed unreasonable. We took our wine and went down the block to enjoy it for free, and Nouvelle lost out not only on our business that night but...

We finished the evening at nouvelle wine bar. If you’ve not been here before, this is such a chic yet comfortable experience. This is also in the heart of Niloo but it has such a great casual ambience to it. The summertime I have a wonderful patio area that makes you forget that you’re in the middle of downtown today since it was New Year’s Eve. We actually got there shortly after it turned 12 A! So we spent our first few hours of the new Year here. The ambiance is lovely. We had a seat on a comfy couch and ordered some champagne. The selections were out of this world for the holiday. The opener of the wine bar is a grade 3 sommelier. So you know this was going it be incredible and it lived up to the hype. This was a wonderful way to ring in the new year. They have classes on wine and lovely music evenings to come in the spring/summer time. I’m just thankful for this wonderful find...

First time here and wow — what a place! Low key, chill vibes, and exactly what I was hunting for: an outdoor patio where I could drink something nice, enjoy good company and good atmosphere.

The staff? Super friendly. The other patrons? Also delightful — not a single weird stare, which is rare for me. Big bonus points for the sign out front: 21+ only, no kids allowed. Look, I love kids… from a distance… in theory. But sometimes adults just need a place to be adults. This patio is it.

The waterfall and garden in the back were like the final garnish on a very well-made cocktail. It felt like I stumbled into a secret garden that also serves beer.

Lastly, and a pro tip before you go: The bathroom doors slide. I repeat — they slide. Do not push!
