Celebrated My Birthday Dinner here on Friday. Worst Dinner Ever! First I would like to commend the server Zach he did an awesome job with no assistance. I even cleaned the dirty dishes from table for him. He apologize and showed gratitude. Cam( Hostess) assisted him and did an awesome job from beginning to end. My Mother had to get her food to go( steak still was medium temperature) because her steak that was supposed to be Med/ Well was Medium and Fries cold. The GM took the plate and apologized and then brought another batch that was cold. Next batch brought out still cold. They kept bringing her fries but not her steak. Another guest had asparagus that was not done, another middle part of her salmon was not done on a well done request. I never received my potato puree( incuded with entree) adked for hot sauce or sauce because Pork Schnitzel was drier than Arizona. Requested Manager who had a very non chalant, non concened demeanor and only made excuses even at one point getting agitated with my Mom. It was very hard for me not to reply but out of respect for my elders at the table I just remained calm. He never addressed the undercooked asparagus. He never returned which says alot about his Managerial skills and personality Another guest received literally 8 fries with his burger and he is a head chef at a Fine Dining Establishment Downtown. Go figure about that conversation when he returns to work. He suggested previously for me to have my dinner there. Oh how i wish i did. Now let's talk about the bar. It took forever to get the drinks and out of all the drinks only 4 was good. Multiple we kept asking what was taking so long for the drinks. They said they had 3 Bartenders( i only saw 2 working on the side of our table) . The restaurant was NOT packed. We were told 2 were trainees. I saw 2 of them working at a normal pace but it took forever for us to receive them. 4 guest went to the bar and got them faster from the young lady. The sad part about this is I was an employee at this restaurant and then Non Chalant Manager ( Will) made reference to this amongst his excuses of being short staffedI was totally embarrassed and upset by the experience. This place is not busy as this is a slow period and winter weather, so have the experience that we had is ABSURD! Kudos to Zach and Cam for the Excellent job you did with limited help!!!. Cam Thank you for being a team player! All I can say is my Dinner was ruined and I will...
Read moreOverwhelmingly positive experience on our first time dining at High Stakes Rooftop Grill. I had made a dinner reservation online about a week prior, and upon arrival we were greeted and shown to our table immediately. Our server for the evening, Lydia, did an amazing job. She was friendly and knowledgeable, but not overbearing. The dinner service proceeded at an absolutely perfect pace, and there was not a single point during the meal that we felt neglected or experienced noticeable downtime. The compliments for the staff continue beyond our server as well, as the young gentleman who brought our food was also very polite and personable, and even came back to see if we liked the desserts.
We started our dining experience with the Baked Potato Rolls. They were delightful and were a unique offering amongst the sea of the traditional bread offerings typically served. Next came the watermelon salad, which had the perfect blend of sweet and sour. Watermelon salads are exceedingly rare on menus around here, and I’m so glad that they chose to include one. It’s a very light and fresh way to start the meal. Our entrees included the Pork Schnitzel with puréed potatoes and the Lobster Bucatini. The schnitzel was abundant and cooked to perfection. It was topped with a picked fennel which was a nice touch. It was served over a bed of whipped potatoes, which although were not extraordinary, were still good in their own right. I also liked the fact that they were green, as even though the color didn’t affect the taste in the least, was a very unique presentation. The bucatini included large chunks of lobster and the pasta was the ideal texture. We really enjoyed the flavor and freshness of the dish. To close out our dining experience, we selected the Mexican Hot Chocolate pot d crème and the “Old Fashioned” bread pudding. Both were decadent and the perfect conclusion to our meal.
Overall, we were highly impressed with our visit and will most certainly make plans to visit again. In a time when it seems small portions, mediocre offerings, and poor service are becoming more and more prevalent, it was very refreshing to have such a positive experience and be able to write such a...
Read moreOur first childless Thanksgiving and we found a hidden gem! The chefs let the quality of the food shine through. Everything was nicely seasoned, not briny with salt like many restaurants.
Courses: Deviled eggs- With horseradish and bacon, seeing deviled eggs on the menu, this is was what got me in the door. YUM!
Beet Salad- With feta, marcona almonds, pumpkin seeds, and sweetened vinegar, this salad and the potato rolls would make a light lunch. Potato Rolls- A homemade bread entwined with loaded potato ingredients, including real slices of potatoes!
Turkey breast- My favorite- tender but firm, moist texture Whipped Potatoes- Comfortably bland Stuffing- A nice foil. It was perfectly cooked in texture and base flavor. (In a world not understaffed, I envision this dish as your showpiece. My suggestion: Feature tableside mix-ins- sautéed onions, celery, walnuts, sage, candied cranberry, sausage, etc.) Gravy- I used this to season the potatoes to taste. My table mate raved about the gravy and consumed all unused portions. Spiced Carrots- Wonderfully rustic and homey. Brussels sprouts- With a pepita praline topping and a bourbon butter bottom lined with winter squash, this is what I would want at home with a ham slice for Thanksgiving leftovers. Complicated flavors that meshed well together.
Bread Pudding- This would make a delicious post Thanksgiving breakfast. I don’t remember the kind of cherries used, but I would love to find them for my own cooking. I was a little disappointed to not end with pumpkin pie. A lightly sweetened pumpkin custard bar would have ended the meal nicely. I would have paid extra to have the bread puddings sent home with us.
The staff ALL seemed gracious and cheerful, very welcoming. We will certainly return.
THANK YOU, High Stakes, for a delightful afternoon. Happy...
