This may be the first McDonald's in a while worth granting five stars. Heck. If give six if I could. Let's start with appearance. The restaurant was clean, both inside and out. No litter on the sidewalk. No over filled trash bins. No dumpsters left wide open. Inside was very well kept. Not a dirty table in sight. Lids and straws filled, no sticky drink station, and a dedicated tap for water. Nice. No trash on the floor, both customer side and in the kitchen. Employees were attentive to greeting me as I walked inside and their attire and attitude were on point.
Now, the customer experience. The lady taking my order was very professional. She did offer an upsale, though I declined. But she wasn't pushy. Just one question in an attempt to get me to buy more, and nothing else. This is great. Not overly enthusiastic, but happy. She offered to have fresh chicken made of I was willing to wait. I accepted. This was the first McDonald's restaurant that had brought my food out to me, which was a nice change. No more clusters of customers piling at the counter, getting angry. This made placing my order quicker than I thought. And I didn't have to wait very long for my food, either. Once delivered, the next representative s pleasant and polite, asked me if I needed any sauce or anything else, and thanked me. I thanked her in return. Another employee was quick and efficient to clean a recently empty table, with what seemed like a pleasant attitude. No issues with loud conversations in the kitchen. Nobody with their phones out. Nobody out of place. Everyone seemed to enjoy being there.
The food. I didn't order much, but my burger was really good. First off, it was well wrapped, but not tightly wrapped. No soggy bun or wet wrapper from excess grease either. The cheese was cool, the meat was hot, and I could actually taste the seasoning. My chicken was hot, and fresh. Though they seemed smaller than they were months ago, I didn't mind. Juicy enough not to need any sauce. Very tasty.
Overall, a solid 10/10, especially when compared to any other McDonald's in the Louisville area. I've been to quite a few. I plan to return here again. The atmosphere is welcoming. The employees are professional, and polite, without being pushy or mad about being there. The food, at least burgers and chicken, are delicious.
Thank you.
I worked for a few different stores of McDonald's in my past, and was there during the introduction of the Made-for-you program, back when they first installed the UHCs across the nation. I took pride in my work, and I was rewarded. Your staff seems to do the same, and they should be rewarded. Ray Crock would be proud.
I look forward to...

Something happened there this morning that has never happened to me before at any McDonalds restaurant where I have eaten breakfast. I usually eat breakfast at one of the locations in Jeffersonville/Clarksville in Indiana but I wanted to get across the bridge to Louisville first and make sure I still had time to stop and eat before doing my volunteer work. Fortunately, traffic was not as bad as I expected so I went to the Market Street McDonalds and enjoyed a burrito and an egg McMuffin along with a senior coffee (I consider McDonald coffee the best of any fast food restaurant).
It's what happened as I was leaving that has me scratching my bald head. I went to get a refill of coffee and the server looked me straight in the face and sternly announced "we do not give free refills on coffee". I looked amazed and said "say what??" She once again stated "we do not give free refills on coffee". I told her that this would be my first and last time of coming to that McDoanlds and walked out of the store. I saw another employee standing outside and I told her what had happened and she said "we haven't given coffee refills for several years". I responded with "I can't believe this". She went on to tell me how she had also worked at another Louisville McDonalds and they also had a no coffee refill policy".
I got in my car to leave when a manager came out the door and waved at me. I lowered my window and she said she would get me another cup of coffee. I told her "that's ok, if its your policy not to give coffee refills I would just be on my way". She concluded by saying the server should not have refused to refill my cup". I guess in Louisville the employee is permitted to refill the cup if the senior citizen begs for it.
I'm sure this is not a corporate policy but has to be a policy dictated by the Louisville area franchise holder. I would invite him to have breakfast at the two locations right across the river. At the 10th street and the Eastern Blvd. locations, a friendly employee comes by your table and asks if you would like a refill and will...
Read moreBeen going to this location 3-5 times a week for about 6 months now, and as of today I won't bother going back. I can say they have 2.x stars for a reason. Food quality is generally poor. They definitely need to change their fryer oil more often. The last few days before they do change it the stuff coming out of it gets practically inedible and far more dark than it should be. Hash browns should be golden, not the color of a football. I'd think the money saved by waiting to change it is far more than lost by customers having a bad experience and not coming back, but who knows.
Anyway, on top of that you gotta check that every single item you order is actually in the bag, every time. I've had my order shorted more than a dozen times in the last 6 months. When you find out after you're at your destination you got no recourse, but if you catch it in the drive thru then whatever they missed is usually ready, they just have trouble reading numbers on a screen and putting the correct number of items in the bag.
Then if they ask you to park and wait for your order while in the drive through you may as well just ask for your money back. They've done it to me twice now, and the food is cold by the time you actually get it. They tried it for a 3rd time on me this morning cause they were waiting on a single hash brown after it had already been 10 minutes since I placed my order. Like they didn't have enough time already to cook a hash brown. I asked for a refund instead and I won't be going back to this store. There's only so much incompetence a person can be asked to accept at these rising prices.
For the record, I'm not a difficult customer. I order basic items from the menu, nothing special. I just expect what I order to actually be in the bag, and for it to be hot and fresh. I don't think that's an unreasonable...
