The hostess team was fine. Doing their job the best they could and polite. I went in with my two kids and myself. We requested a high chair when added to the wait list, but when they sat us it was at a elevated table with no high chair. The server came over and rushed us to order. I tried to put in the orders for the kids to start and then look at the menu myself but they stood next to the table impatiently tapping their pen until I chose something. Soon after, a different person came to bring our drinks, which is fine. After about 10 minutes the kids finished their drinks. I tried to make eye contact with any staff person (in the rushed ordering situation)for about 20 minutes. After 30 minutes with no one checking on us and not one staff person even looking our way, I went to the hostess desk to ask if I could find somebody to help us with some refills. I tried to be very polite about it and explained that I wasn't sure who the server was and could not get anyone else to stop by our table. They did quickly get some refills for the kids. Soon after, they sent over who I'm assuming is a manager. She checked in with us, but seemed very annoyed herself. I expressed my understanding that everything is different right now due to understaffing, and then she expressed that they were not understaffed and asked what other problem I had in a rather snappy manner. I said that we hadn't been checked in with and ordered the foo about 40 minutes earlier. This was our first time at this Red Robin location, but other locations typically serve in 15 to 20 minutes. She went to the kitchen and brought our food right out. The goods had obviously been sitting a while and was lukewarm at best. As a parent of two hungry and growing tired boys, sending anything back was not an option. The food was missing the dressing for my son's salad so we had to wait for that to come as it was. The food was brought over by who I was told was our original server, the bartender. I honestly couldn't tell you if that was original server or not, but she was noticeably perturbed. I apologized for not being able to tell who our server was and let her know that I would have just asked her for a refill had I known. Our server was rude. She continued not to make any eye contact. Did not acknowledge anything I said. Then she walked away from the table before I could ask for the dressing for my son's salad. I able to get the server's attention and got the dressing in the timely manner. After we finished up, I needed a box for my son. Even though the server could see I was trying to get her attention she did not respond. I even walked over to the bar to try to get her attention, but eventually one of the other bartenders responded to me instead.
In full disclosure, the restaurant did try to make amends by waving the price of my son's meal. I know this is long, but I don't give one star lightly. This is especially so in a time when so many restaurants are facing understaffed conditions. If the manager was honest, Red Robin is very lucky to be one of the few restaurants in the United States right now that is not understaffed. I'm assuming that they actually are understaffed and give one star with this understanding. Detriments to service are to be expected right now, but rudeness...
Read moreWe haven't visit the location for about a year, just because our habits have changed, after being a multiple time per month customer. Yesterday provided an opportunity to return to use a birthday burger offer.
What has happened to this location? It took 30 minutes to get 4 adults and a child seated at 2 on a Saturday. When we were led to our seat, there were so many empty tables throughout the main floor and the seating extension past the bar. Upon arrival at our seat, I noticed the table next to us had dirty dishes sitting on it. Our waitress was attentive and got our drink order immediately and when those were brought a few minutes later, we ordered. This is where our visit turned for the worse.
The food on the next table sat there for over a half and hour until it was bussed. The smell of onion and other left over foods is not an appealing ambiance. Everyone finished our drinks and had to wait 15-20 minutes before our waitress returned to check on us. She quickly provided refills, but said nothing else. At over an hour past when we ordered our food arrived. This is far too long for burgers and regular sides. The worse thing is no one came to say that the kitchen was behind, there were issues or any rational. We ate and again we're not approached being asked for refills of our sides. My daughter had to ask for her sundae and it appeared a surprise to the waitress. The sundae showed up in a plastic cup rather than the traditional sundae dish and was noticeably smaller than before. All in all our visit was far longer than 2 hours.
This is very disappointing and I don't know how soon we will return. Lack of communication and cleanliness are two items I do not compromise on which we have many places that do this with ease. The fact that Management is completely absent at this location is also...
Read moreWe ate here yesterday and I was really pleased with everything. Of course your normal Red Robin decor. But our waiter was great. Drinks were always filled, food was hot and he really went above and beyond and definitely earned the tip I gave him. Not only did he note we are a fat family and offer to bring us out fries before our meal came, he offered up their "special" sauces and even gave us a basket of their garlic fries. I only ate the ranch dressing which was really good in itself. And they were Free! What American doesn't jump at the word free! He was really personable and he didn't lie when he said I would enjoy the Fish and Chips. I usually don't order fish/seafood unless I'm at a place that specializes in that type of menu. I really do fear it being prepared wrong and getting sick off of it haha. Their fish was excellent! The outer crust was so crispy and not greasy to the touch and the fish inside was so delicate and smooth. Great flavor too! Oh, and the tartar sauce was awesome! Tartar sauce falls under the "either it's horrible or fabulous" there isn't an in between for me haha. This was really good too and I made sure to bring it home with the rest of my meal, yes, in true Red Robin form we got so much food I couldn't finish it. And I'm glad. Put that fish back in the oven and had a great dinner!
Oh and let me not forget my Apple Fritters!! Dessert isn't something I make a habit of ordering. If I do I already plan on taking it home haha. These little bursts of apple pie were the perfect finish to my lunch. I only had one at the time because I had already stuffed myself with fries and fish, but these were so warm, and I can't even call them little. They were big for a dessert and I got a lot. And the warm caramel sauce that accompanied it was delicious! Just the perfect...
