I had family here from out of town, in June 2025. We couldn’t get reservations at a few other places so last minute I called Shogan. I’ve eaten there several times before, so was confident in my choice, even tho it’s been a little while since I was last there. I was so disappointed, embarrassed, and ashamed that I even bought them to that restaurant. We watched them cook and were horrified that they put the chicken on the same grill with the shrimp, never cooking the meat and wiping down the grill. There was some serious cross contamination going on! My sister told them several times she was allergic to soy and he put soy sauce in her food anyway! He did not take anything off of the bill nor did he make her a new plate without soy… he continued to place other soy items on her plate until her husband stepped in. They’ve changed the counter height chairs to low chairs. They are so low that they have seat cushions stacked up in a corner so if you feel like you’re too low get a cushion! Our seating was by the corner of the stacked cushions and people were constantly getting up to get cushions to take them back! It was annoying. One guy was sitting on 3 cushions and mentioned he could use another! You don’t know what’s in or on those cushions, or how often they’re cleaned! Our plates were loaded! I had chicken, a very small amount of vegetables, lo mein noodles, and rice! both? I only asked for rice but everyone got both… was that to compensate for the very small amount of vegetables? Idk.. Everything taste the same and was the same color! Brown. So much soy sauce it was very salty. The few people who did a doggy bag threw it away later, one relative did not do Hibachi grill, said her food was good and it looked delicious! My other relatives left their full plates sitting there! I don’t know if it’s under new management but imo it REALLY went down! I wish I would’ve taken pictures of the food. It was horrible. If I could give...
Read moreI will never visit this establishment again due to their poor customer service. My husband and I recently went to Shogun for a hibachi dinner with our 2 young children, ages 4 and 2. My husband and I have gone to this restaurant for years but it was our first time taking our children. We ordered 2 regular hibachi meals and 1 Kids hibachi chicken meal, as we knew it would be plenty of food for all 4 of us (2 regular meals alone would’ve been more than enough). Because the waitress heard us mention that the kids would share their meal, unbeknownst to us, she disregarded our request for a kids meal and rang it in as a regular one. Since we’ve never taken the kids before, we didn’t know what to expect for the kids hibachi portion. The chef confirmed all of our protein choices, and prepared the meal. We ate and boxed up our leftover food. When our waitress gave us the bill, we realized we were charged for 3 regular meals instead of 2 regular and 1 kids meal. After we discussed it with her, she came back and said there was nothing they could do because the chef cooked the meal and we ate it. She admitted that she entered the kids order in as a regular meal because we mentioned it would be shared. We then asked to speak to a manager but instead the waitress came back and said “we fixed the price but we want your leftover food back.” We gave her the container with the leftover food from one of the meals, paid the bill, and stopped at the front to speak to a manager on our way out. He wasn’t any better to talk to and made us feel like it was our fault for not catching that the chef was preparing a regular meal instead of a kids meal (even though we had no clue what a kids meal portion looks like.) The experience and interaction was absolutely ridiculous. I just hope they tossed the food they requested back and didn't try to repurpose it but I guess...
Read moreWhat a disappointing experience. We've been told that we need to do experience this restaurant. I was ready to leave when it took a long time to get a waitress to come take our order but I was watching the chef cook and interact with the patrons at the next table. He's very good and I'm interested. The waitress for that table was attentive - we saw her at that table about three or four times before we saw our waitress. Finally our order was taken, and we were given a salad. Odd as other places ask if we would rather have soup. Perhaps you get both here? Nope. Our table mates told the waitress that they were splitting the check before they ordered. When the chef came to double-check our orders discovered at least three orders were incorrect and had to go back to the kitchen for more supplies. This chef was good, only in respect that the food was cooked. There was no real interaction. The food was okay, but it was lacking flavor. Chicken and steak were just meh. Not bad per se, but nothing to write home about. We did not see the waitress again, my drink cup was left empty for some time. When we were done we discovered that our table mates were included on one check with a gratuity added as they were counted as a part of six. It took the waitress three attempts to get the ticket split apart correctly. Meanwhile we were kept waiting unable to pay. I returned to watching the waitress at the other table who once again was very attentive and engaging with the customers. Perhaps the waitress was having an off day. Perhaps the chef was young and was not yet comfortable interacting with dinner guest. Maybe if either employee had been more on their game our experience would have been better. However with a poor waitress, and inefficient chef and food that was just meh. I have a hard time recommending this place to others especially at...
