We visited the Hibachi Buffet and Grill on 12/23/2023 at around 6:30 pm. My wife has 2 service dogs and we were accepted into the restaurant with no issues. The staff visibly noticed the service dogs, but did not hesitate to assist in seating us. All was well until after getting our first round of food at the buffet, the manager came to our table to 'request' that my wife either go to the bar without her dogs or to have someone else get her food. These dogs serve for medical/allergy alerts among other tasks for which my wife needs them at her side. To be clear, the dogs are noticeable only when walking around and are well-kept and well-behaved above and beyond ADA standards. After the confrontation by the manager, my wife asked me to request his name as she did not feel safe doing such, so I politely approached and asked if he could write his name down for us. At this point, he became more and more offensive, first stating he did not have to provide his name and then pointing to the ADA FAQ's answer regarding behavioral problems (aggression toward people, disruptive behaviors, etc) and said that dog hair was a 'direct threat' to his customers' safety. I tried to point out that what he was indicating was merely based on presence and that the clause to which he was referring was for behavioral problems, but he refused to try to see reason. He then decided to offend me by saying that I had 'bad body odor' and that he could remove me for 'poor hygiene'. At this point, I felt he had crossed the line and I did not want to perpetuate his offensive behavior, but requested for him to write down his name one more time, to which he flat out refused. At that I returned to the table, offended, and paid the bill and left. What could have been an enjoyable family meal had been turned into a thoroughly upsetting experience all around. If it were on the food alone, I would give it 4 stars, but between the manager's attitude and the waitress looking like she was purposely avoiding us except to hurry us along, it's probably fortunate for them that a negative star review is impossible. I have eaten there once or twice before with no issues, but after this I do not feel like returning there. EDIT - I should add that due to the manager's treatment of us that my wife ended up only getting the one plate of food and I only got a small second plate, and after our nerves calmed, we were both still very hungry, so we neither got "all" we could eat nor our money's worth at approximately $17 for the meal...
Read moreWent today with family from out of town to this restaurant everything on the food bar was cold when I asked someone to help they directed me to the manager he said what do you want me to do about it there's steam coming off the table you can see it... I replied yes I see steam , BUT our food is ice cold and it was from all different Buffet tables, so it wasn't just one that had a problem. I then went over and took a piece of food off of each bar, put it on the plate & took it over to him and asked him to feel it! He refused! Then adding insult to injury a few minutes later he approached our table and said this is a buffet that's how it just how buffets are.... Upsetting another family member needless to say we left before they were done microwaving your food. All he had to do was say I'm sorry ,check the temperature of the foods, and address the problem, BUT instead he was blatantly rude and very disrespectful & when I asked for a phone number to voice my concerns about the safety and sanitation of the food, he refused to give me a phone number and told me to just leave his restaurant! When I got home I looked for the phone number on the internet, low and behold what do I find, but 20 articles and news Snips about this very restaurant having black mold, flies, ants in food, using dirty containers, falsifying there completion certificates for employee safety and sanitation, and too many other things to list, and when I say too many I mean list of 100 violations! THEY WERE ACTUALLY FOUND GUILTY AND SHUT DOWN TEMPORARILY RECENTLY after being cited numerous times for falsifying documents failing & uncleanliness & serving unsafe food to our families for years now! Hmmmm!!!! Oh and Mr rude manager... I am not only writing this, but I'm calling your headquarters, & the State Board of Health next . SIGNED, A very disgruntled Patron who will never return to your or any Hibachi Grill again and will discourage everyone I know from patronizing your restaurant because I wouldn't wish salmonella or botulism on my worst enemy- PS. I have a degree and hotel institutional and restaurant management from...
Read moreDisgusting. That’s the only word I have for this place, not just the food (which is bland and overpriced), not just the service (which is indifferent at best), but the complete lack of basic humanity.
While my husband and I were trying to eat, a boy went around mocking us, calling us “fat,” and even shoved my husband. When I brought it to the attention of the man at the register, I was dismissed. His excuse? That the boy’s family “comes here all the time.” Translation: their money is worth more than our dignity or safety. When my husband reported being physically shoved, he was told that if he wanted to “put himself in danger” by saying something, that was on him and that the restaurant wouldn’t lift a finger. To say the man was aggressive with a clear and obvious chip on his shoulder would be an understatement.
That is exactly what’s wrong with the world today, one of the many reasons anymore. When businesses, and the people running them choose dollar signs over people, they become complicit in cruelty. They normalize harassment. They tell victims they don’t matter as long as money keeps flowing. That attitude is rotten, small-minded, and cowardly. The man at the counter seemed so proud of himself but he accomplished nothing besides guaranteeing that we never return and that we tell as many people as possible to take their hard earned money to an establishment that actually harbors even a modicum of decency and service.
No decent person should ever give this place a cent. Food fades, money comes and goes , but character, compassion, and integrity are what actually matter. This restaurant showed it has none and whoever that man was, along with the rest of the staff who followed suit thereafter need to know they accomplished nothing more than losing business and enticing nothing but feelings of embarrassment for their actions and behavior. Victim blaming and shaming isn’t the vibe they clearly think it is and when you plant yourself firmly on the wrong side of morality it will always find its way back to you.
Do not waist your...
