I’m not sure if it’s new management or what but this place is just not what it used to be. This was one of our favorites in town but the last few times we’ve visited this year it just seems to get worse. After today I’m not sure if we will be back. When we walked in we weren’t greeted by anyone and there were no hostesses up at the front... So, after waiting a bit we awkwardly walked over to the bar and found a table to sit at. After about five minutes someone came by handed us menus, brought us some water and left. No hello, how are you, can I get you anything else to drink, blah blah blah. A few minutes later a different waitress came by and immediately wanted us to order, so we rushed through and picked something. Shortly after someone brought soup and our food and sushi weren’t far behind. The sushi, salad, and soup were the only saving graces from our meal at Ohana. We ordered the hibachi steak and chicken, both plates came out cold and flavorless. Steak was undercooked and chicken was over cooked. The rice and vegetables tasted awful. Over cooked and in way too much grease. It wasn’t five minutes after we got our food that another random waitress came by and reached across our table for plates to take away (that were still full) without even asking if we were finished. I literally had to pull my salad out of her hands and say, “Oh, wait! No! Sorry, were not done with that!” She half heartedly apologized and walked away. The look I received from her after that was horrible. She quickly went over to a few of the other employees and seemed to complain about us to other wait staff. It was seriously just ridiculous. Not one person ever came by to bring us more water or ask if we needed/wanted anything else. And after being there for about 20 minutes someone else came by and slapped the check on the table, without saying a word. There were two tables left in the bar, including ours, along with a large table of customers at one of the hibachi grills still eating and chatting and around 2:15 (they close at 2:30 on Sunday) they turned off the music in the restaurant, as well as the tv and lights in the front around the bar area while guests were still seated and trying to finish their meals. It was unbelievable. Needless to say it was easily one of the worst experiences I’ve had, especially at a restaurant we are used to going to all the time. I’ve never felt so rushed or disrespected by the wait staff here or anywhere, for that matter. Despite that, as we left we thanked the staff and headed out. They barely looked up to say thank you or wave. Almost immediately after we got home, both of us were sick. Experience was just a disaster. We won’t be returning to this location...
Read moreI try my best not to give bad reviews, but feel like I had to today. I was taking my daughter to lunch, and we wanted Hibachi, and Ohana's was the closest, so we decided to go there. We walk in, with a stroller and a sleeping baby, and the gentleman who sat us moved chairs out of the way so we could put the stroller next to our chairs. We were trying to get situated, and HAD NOT EVEN SAT DOWN, and the waitress said "are you ready to order"? I looked at her and said, we haven't even sat down yet, much less looked at our menus. She smiled and walked away, and not 20 seconds later she came back and asked us again, "are you ready to order"? We gave her our drink order, to which she cut off my daughter, so she only heard her say water, and not water and Dr. Pepper. Then she asked again "are you ready to order?" We had not even had a chance to look at the menu, we were discussing appetizers. My daughter finally said this feels very rude, I think I just want to leave. We were at a Hibachi grill, with other strangers, and were embarrassed and very uncomfortable. Thankfully the other guests at the table were very sweet and understanding. The chef never even offered ginger sauce or hot mustard until after he was done cooking and my daughter asked for it. He told her to hold on until he finished cleaning the grill, and then finally gave it to us. The food tasted good, but by the time we got it, we were over lunch and asked for to go containers. The entire staff was rude and unprofessional, and the chef had zero personality. There are MUCH better hibachi grills in Lubbock, and I will most certainly not go back to Ohana's. Not to mention the poor fish in the waterfall area look like they are swimming around in their own feces. 100% would absolutely...
Read moreOkay, I don't do this often but I have to after my experience tonight. I'm not sure if this restaurant has changed ownership or what but I am only giving it one star because I can't give it no stars. My wife and I decided to get the steak and seafood combo. This is steak, chicken, shrimp, scallops and lobster. Long story short, the cook, DRENCHED, everything but the steak and rice in teriyaki sauce. I have eaten hibachi my entire life and I have eaten seafood my entire life. I have never seen teriyaki sauce on seafood, especially lobster and scallops. Prior to drenching everything in teriyaki sauce, he over cooked the lobster so much that once drenched in teriyaki sauce, you couldn't tell if you were eating chicken or lobster. I stopped the woman I believe to be the manager and asked if it was normal to cook seafood in teriyaki sauce. She said yes. I asked if that was how the menu stated it would be cooked and she said yes. She said if we didn't want teriyaki sauce on it, we would have to specify that. She did offer to remake the meal but since it was 9:00 at that point and evidently my mistake for not reading the description on the menu sufficiently, I told her no thank you. She did come back later with a $25 gift certificate for our next visit and took a picture of my plate to show the owner, which seemed to indicate to me it wasn't normal. On the way out, I checked the menu and it says nothing about teriyaki sauce. We gave the gift certificate to others at the table, I won't...
