Alexander's Restaurant — Restaurant in Luray

We ate breakfast there. They are reasonably priced and breakfast was awesome. Try the chopped beef gravy for an old fashioned feel. It was so good. The reason for a 3 rating…there’s a waitress there who talks so loud the entire restaurant can hear her talk to her customers. It was SO annoying and rude. And then to pay your check you must go to the attached hotel front desk and wait in line to pay. Wait staff is not allowed to take your money. This is most annoying. The hotel front desk person should NOT be working with the public. He was RUDE, told the entire line of customers he was going to the rest room and was gone for 10 minutes and then was more rude upon his return. It’s time for him to retire! He should NEVER be dealing with customers. He needs to go out and work on the lawn where he belongs. NO contact with...

Myself and my daughter waited to be seated along with two other couples. Once we were all seated me and my daughter were not acknowledged again. For 20 minutes we sat there while the other two couples were waited on. THEN a party of 4 walks in and immediately the server is scurrying to clear them a table right in from of us. She seats them within 2 minutes she's coming back our way but stops short of us and begins taking the 4 tops order! I said excuse me the server then rolled her eyes towards me and continued to take their order! I've been a server for over 20 years and it's wrong to treat customers that way! My husband and I were visiting Luray for a few days. We wanted a simple but good breakfast. And Alexander's delivered. My husband had the Belgian waffle & bacon and said it was great. I just had eggs, scrapple, and a biscuit. Again, simple. But we'll done. The scrapple was perfectly crisp on the outside and still soft in the middle. The decor was is so charming. We loved the mismatched dishes. But the best thing was the service. We unfortunately didn't get the name of the lady who sat us, but she was very welcoming. And we can't say enough about our server Tammy. She was fast, attentive, funny, and polite without being stiff. And we found a great place for dinner from her recommendation.
