Ezell's Famous Chicken — Restaurant in Lynnwood

Came by to grab some southern food omw back north on a Sunday at 6pm. Was told there was a 20min wait, fine. Ordered an 8 piece with a side of Mac & fries (was told they were out of mashed potatoes) & 3 chicken strips w a side of okra. While waiting for our food we watched a poor gentleman become upset because he stated to staff he had waited for 30mins and they told him they didn’t have his his mashed potatoes and order ready. The manager did a poor job at attempting to apologize. He stated “we are doing the best we can” but the gentleman explained when he ordered he was not told they were out and he watched them bag mashed potatoes and hand it to other guests who had placed an order after him! They did not attempt to refund him for the mashed potatoes or be apologetic or offer anything for free just told him to pick another side. This had previously happened to me at this location a while ago and I had just been telling my friend who was present with me the story. Sad to see things have not changed months later. When my order was ready I came to the front and asked the manager to open my bags and be sure all items I ordered were present but they told me they were also now out of Mac and cheese at 6pm at night when they close at 9pm and to choose a different side. So I chose fries. The manager checked the order in front of me and I told him I lived over an hour away so to be sure. I get home and no fries! I am unsure how this location functions as not only is the culture terrible within their staff but the management seems to not have things fluently in order. They need to be more prepared and prepped for peak business times and be sure they are being fair when serving guests! I won’t be coming back to this location which is unfortunate because it’s one of the few places I know where I can get...

Please note, since my order was handled by a delivery service I did not include any information beyond my experience with the food itself. The following is my review for the food I received from this location on 08.18.24:

We were dying for some fried chicken and okra as it had been a while since we last had it. Anyway, we ordered fried chicken 1 lb. Tenders, fried Golden-Fried Okra 1 lb, and 6 Half-Dozen Rolls. I was a bit bummed there was not a place to add some ketchup and utensils to the order when I was able to locate the utensils request; the ketchup was MIA. The same was true for basic honey, and one of one would think these would be easy to locate and add to the order. Anyway, other than the minor issues with the condiments or the fact the utensils I requested were not with my order; the order overall was great! The fried chicken 1 lb. Tenders were fantastic! They were cooked well with the meat inside still glistening!They were not too hard nor too soft and the batter was well applied to each strip, resulting in a delicious crunch with every bite! How could this meal been better than some very juicy, well cooked, and flavorful chicken 1 lb. Tenders? Adding in the perfectly cooked, evenly battered, and well seasoned Golden-Fried Okra 1 lb was exactly what was needed to elevate my order of chicken 1 lb. Tenders! Then, in an effort to tie it altogether, I orderred e Half-Dozen Rolls - light and airy, extra soft, with a gentle sweetness resulting in a homemade "from scratch" taste yielding the back home southern flavor our tastebuds connect to a recipe "grandma" passed down for generations! I know this review sounds a bit fluffed if you will; however, what I can say, and highly recommend, is for each of you to do yourself a favor and try it! I clealy love it, my family loves it, and...

FOOD: 16 piece combo, family meal: ordered all dark meat, Mac and cheese, mash potato, and fries. We got mix (white and dark) and no fries at all 2 lbs fried gizzard: we ordered 1 lb original and 1 lb spicy. They both weren’t bad except there wasn’t any heat. Both tasted the same even tho one had a darker color to it which would indicate the heat. 1/2 lb fried liver: not a fan of fried liver but at least it was crispy.

SERVICE: The wait: we arrived early and decided to check if our order was ready since most places are generous with the wait time. They said the order was being worked on however come to find out they only had to load one more box. After 5 mins we saw two coworker arguing as the one finishing our order thought the other one gave our order once she was done. So our order was sitting… getting soggy. The missing order: When we got home we realized we were missing fries. We called the restaurant hoping to see if we can get a partial refund. The person that picked up said we could return to their store even tho we told her it’s a 30 mins drive. That was pretty much the end of the conversation. The incorrect order: After the first two issue, we’re pretty unhappy, but starving so we dug in. That’s when we also realized they didn’t provide us with all dark meat like we ordered. We didn’t bother calling back since the interaction on the phone about the fries…

It’s really disappointing as we really like their Woodinville and mill creek location. If we ever go back it’ll will be one of those but I’m definitely not rushing to eat from them...
