There was 1 other person in the restaurant when we arrived. I figured that would make the service a little better. I was incorrect. Starting with some type of food on the walls of the booth my wife and 2 kids were seated at. Jelly or syrup maybe, and a lot of it. We started with coffee. It tasted super old and burnt. No silverware to stir the sugar and creamer. The kids got apple juice. My 2 year old, choked on his apple juice, and it went all over the table, his placemat, and himself. The server saw this, and never offered us any napkin or rag. He just walked away. When we got our food, the quality was just okay. But I wasn't expecting a miracle (my burger tasted like it covered in blue cheese) That's when we received silverware with the 1 napkin each. When it was over at around 7:15ish, I got the bill. $71. and change. I had 3-100s, 2-50s, and a couple of 1s. Handed him a hundred. He stated that he couldn't get into the safe to break it. I was dumbfounded. We went back n forth a couple times, about him not having any money at all at his disposal. He never offered any solution. Like calling a manager to help or whatever. I told him I was going to tip if that helps, just not $30. I suggested he just give me $10 back. He again, just said he couldn't open the safe. We just went back n forth for a few minutes. I got irate at this point. 2 kids, ready to go. No resolution to the situation. Luckily my wife had someone venmo the money to us, so she could use her card. Otherwise my only 2 options were, don't pay, walk off, get the cops called on us, maybe get arrested in front of my kids. Or 2, be forced to give him a 30 dollar tip.
When we got home I checked the menu, there was in fact, NO blue cheese listed on the jalapeño burger. So I guess it was mold that I tasted.
The server seemed really checked out, and or, a little dimwitted. But nice enough. I get that it's not the greatest job. I also get that everybody deserves a chance to work. But this was bar none the worst experience I've ever had at any restaurant. This whole situation would've gone a whole lot worse for everyone had my children...
Read moreI have been to this location several times since moving to Lynnwood. I had a couple bad experiences at the Bellingham IHOP but we tried this one shortly after we moved here and it was great. Now that we've been here several times in the last 6 months I can honestly say I've always had great food and great service and the price is very good for what u get. The Denny's and Shari's in town don't compare with quality or service. Today was the first time we came here at a time when it was very busy. When we arrived at 11am on a Sunday we expected it to be busy. There were a couple parties ahead of us waiting to be seated but we waited a little under 10 mins before being seated. They took our order quickly and the food came out quick. It was perfect. Even though the place was packed we had attentive and fast service and good food. The team knows how to handle a busy Sunday rush. I would recommend it to anyone looking for yummy breakfast or comfort food. I also just want to add that it's clear when a place us as packed as this and it still turns out great quality and service that they are well trained and must have very good management. I think it was the manager who jumped in to take our order. I like it when I see management helping out the staff when it's busy instead of staying in the office writing up next week's schedule or something like that when they have a restaurant full...
Read moreI was disappointed and hurt by the experience we had at this IHOP location. One of the waitresses was blatantly rude and racist toward our table from the start giving us attitude, barely checking in, and making us feel completely unwelcome. What made it worse was hearing her talk negatively about us to another table right next to ours, loudly enough for us to hear. It was humiliating and clearly targeted. Instead of taking responsibility, she lied to her coworkers, claiming she âtried being nice,â when she did the complete opposite. Whatâs even more frustrating is that some of the other servers backed her up and making us seem as the problem when we were just trying to enjoy a nice breakfast at IHOP and without even trying to understand what happened. The only decent part of our visit was a newer server who seemed kind and respectful, and genuinely tried to make the situation better. He was the only one who acted with professionalism and basic human decency. We came here to enjoy a meal, not to be disrespected and gossiped about. IHOP needs to do better both in staff training and in holding their employees accountable for discriminatory and...
