I really liked this spot. The place has the old-school rustic look.. The staff were super friendly and made conversation, which you don’t get much anymore.
I got the Italian sub, it came with mortadella, hot capicola, Genoa salami, provolone, lettuce, tomato, onion, oil, and vinegar on Italian bread. First bite, I was like yes… this is it. The flavor just hits right, salty, tangy, and a little spicy from the capicola. Bread had that perfect chew, not too soft, not rock hard. Maybe could’ve been a little toastier but that's just me, but honestly, it was solid.
We also got the Turkey Cobb. Roasted turkey, blue cheese, and applewood smoked bacon on thick sourdough with avocado. That one was so good. The blue cheese really stood out, packed a flavorful punch that tied it all together. Portions were generous too, I didn’t even finish it all in one go. I’d definitely come back and try the...
Read moreI had a disappointing experience here. While the food was good, the service was less than impressive. One woman (a manger, believe her name is Nancy) was extremely unprofessional, if not just rude. Midway through taking my order, she just walked away and never returned. One of the younger employees finally noticed, apologized and completed my order. Leaving the restaurant I saw her in the back parking lot smoking. I’m all for breaks but to walk away, say nothing to her staff and leave the customer standing there is unacceptable. I was willing to try again so I returned a few weeks later and had a similar rude experience with the same woman. Unfortunately the continued experiences with this employee has soured my overall impression of this restaurant. Several good deli’s in the area, so I would hesitate to return to...
Read moreI had high hopes for Swanson's deli. The only good thing was the pickle which was excellent. It started with the staff mixing up orders for the people in front of me. The same person who mixed up the order was making my Italian sub. No problem with my order until I bit into the sandwich and heard a crack. They left a large toothpick laying across the inside of my sandwich. I looked down at the other half of my sandwich and part of a toothpick was sticking out of the side too. I opened the sandwich and saw the toothpick through the meat portion hidden by the bread. I removed the toothpicks and finished that sandwich. Unfortunately there are much better cheaper versions in the area. $13 for a small sub with toothpicks inside. It wasn't even a tasty small sub. Very...
