This used to be my favorite boba shop. Now the employees have explicitly lied about me. Unfortunately, I will not EVER be back due to this. I have never had an issue like this before.
I went in a few days ago to pick up my online order, made through HungryPanda. I entered the store, told the cashier my name, and informed them I just ordered 10 minutes before I arrived so I wasn't sure if my drinks were ready yet. I waited in store for 25 minutes.
I saw the workers just sitting on their phones so I went up to the counter and asked if my order would be ready soon. (The employees saw me standing there waiting and didn't say a thing.) I was told they did not receive my order yet. Weird, and has never happened before. They asked if I knew what I had ordered, I did not know what my boyfriend ordered, I only had a confirmation code, not a receipt.
I told them I'm not sure, and to please cancel the order and I'll request a refund as I have a baby waiting in the car and do not have another 10 minutes to wait. The drinks are usually ready upon arrival.
I requested a refund from HungryPanda, and after two days I was told they will NOT be issuing a refund because "the workers saw you bring in your baby but you left without saying anything."
I did NOT bring my baby in, I left because baby and dad were in the car waiting. And I explicitly asked them to cancel the order as I was not able to stay.
The fact that these employees would LIE about me just to cover their own butts is insane. IT WAS $25 OF DRINKS. I'm not at a loss over the money, but the fact that I could come in, explicitly state after 35 minutes that I'm leaving and do not want my drinks to be made, then THEY MAKE THE DRINKS ANYWAY? And refuse to issue me a refund for drinks I never recieved? I was AT HOME with a crying, hungry baby by the time they made these drinks. I was NEVER contacted saying my order was ready for pickup.
Then for the employees to bold-face lie about me? I'm good. That is garbage customer...
Read moreLe C's???? More like MY G (short for GOAT). The second I stepped outside, the heavens decided to yeet an ocean straight onto State Street. My measly platform Crocs? Laughable. They were practically dinghies in the tsunami, and my socks? Soaked. Utterly waterlogged. I could’ve rung them out and filled a kiddie pool. Even my thigh highs, my trusty style soldiers, were no match for the flood—they clung to my legs like soggy seaweed. The rain smelled like Madison tap and regret, so drinking it wasn’t an option. I needed salvation. I needed boba. STAT.
Through the downpour, I spotted the neon beacon of Le C’s glowing like a holy lighthouse through my Gucci shades (yes, they’re waterproof). I swam—yes, SWAM—upstream through a river of rainwater, clutching my drenched Rolex to my chest like a lifeline. My thigh highs, now borderline scuba gear, valiantly tried to keep up with the deluge. The second I breached the door, I felt the tropical warmth of boba salvation. The menu glimmered before me like a treasure map, even through my rose-tinted sunglasses (it’s 7 PM; don’t question my fashion). I gasped, "Matcha boba with cheese topping. Now."
The barista? An absolute hero. A Poseidon of beverages. They handed me a cup that was practically overflowing like the Mississippi in spring. The boba pearls danced in the drink like buoys in a storm. I sipped it, my thigh highs now free to dry in the glorious sanctuary of Le C’s, and I swear, the rain outside paused out of respect. The cheese topping was divine, like frothy clouds of dairy redemption.
I waded back into the monsoon, boba in hand, feeling invincible. My thigh highs, still waterlogged but undeterred, clung to my legs as a reminder of the struggle. The rain couldn’t touch me anymore—I had my buoyant beverage, and it was worth every drowned sock and...
Read moreA newly opened East Asian Milk Tea/Bakery on State Street, just across the street from Sencha and a few steps away from Taiwan Little Eats and Kung Fu Tea (is it just me or is Madison slowly transforming into a milk tea heaven?)
The drink menu offers a large variety of beverages - freshly brewed teas, fruit teas, milk teas, teas with cheese cap, fruit smoothies, and more.
So far, I tried 4-5 different drinks off the menu (just discovered this place last week) and they were all great. The tea taste is prominent and rich and the quality reminds me of the top Chinese franchises (喜茶/HeyTea and 一点点/YiDianDian to name a few). This being said, Le C’s seem to set their own authentic style and taste rather than copying others. For example, their Peach Green Tea with Cheese Top is quite different from the one in HeyTea - be it the peach texture, the prominence of tea flavor or the cheese cap. Didn’t have a chance to try any of their bakery products yet, but planning to do so soon - they do look attractive.
Somehow the store goes by three different names - Le C’s in Google Maps and above the door of the store, and 岩茶/YanCha and Elitea on the menu and tea cups. Perhaps that makes this place just even more exciting and fun.
Certainly an excellent addition to State Street. Highly recommended for all lovers of authentic Chinese/East...
