Owner/ Manager/ Five Guys Website,
On Sunday, October 1, 2017, in a rush to eat and run, my grandson and I stopped to grab a quick bite at Five Guys in Manchester,CT.06040
Never having been at Five Guys before, my grandson remarked that he had heard Five Guys served pretty good hamburgers. There were a number of people ordering and it was a bit hectic.
As I said, we were in a rush but I did notice the cheeseburgers were pricey. However, I did not protest. To add to the hectic atmosphere, my grandson was unsure of what he wanted, was hesitant and changed his mind a few times. I became exasperated at his uncertainty and was urging him to make a decision as we were in a hurry and there were people behind us waiting to order.
Finally (my order was already started), he ordered and my bill was tallied and the young man gave me the total: $28.43!!
2 Cheeseburgers . 2 orders of fries 28.43!!!!!!!! 2 soft drinks
30.00 bucks for 2 cheeseburgers, 2 orders of fries and 2 sodas????? What is wrong with this picture?
I loudly exclaimed “WHAT? For 2 cheeseburgers, 2 orders of fries and 2 sodas??? I paid the bill.
Additional Information: • Free toppings (at these prices it is the least you can offer) What we received: • 2 double cheeseburgers (not stated on menu), which were very good, HOWEVER, I DO NOT PAY $30.00 FOR “VERY GOOD,” 2 cheeseburgers, 2 orders of fries and 2 sodas!
• 2 orders of fries, ample and very good, HOWEVER, I DO NOT PAY $30.00 FOR “AMPLE and VERY GOOD,” 2 cheeseburgers, 2 orders of fries and 2 sodas!
• 2 ordinary, non-diet sodas HOWEVER, I DO NOT PAY $30.00 FOR “ORDINARY, NON-DIET SODAS” and 2 cheeseburgers, 2 orders of fries and 2 sodas!
Other observations and comments: • There was no indication on the menu that these were DOUBLE CHEESEBURGERS. I did note that there were “small burgers” which I incorrectly assumed were for children!! We did not want double cheeseburgers.
• There are no such thing as a small burger!! There are single burgers, double burgers, quarter pounders, etc., etc., etc.!!!
• Let me be clear, I TAKE FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR DISMISSING MY INITIAL REACTION TO THE HIGH PRICE AND NOT PAYING ATTENTION TO THE ADDITIONAL FRIES AND SODA EXCESSIVE PRICES. MY BAD and a lesson learned!!
I charge your company of FALSE ADVERTISING and EXCESSIVE PRICES.
You have the right to be expensive, but be honest with the public and let them know what they are getting:
Double Cheeseburger- $7.79 Double Hamburger - $7.09 Includes following toppings only.
Single Hamburger - $5.09 Single Cheeseburger- $5.79 Includes following toppings only.
In conclusion, your staff takes the brunt of your lack of transparency.
I shall not return, although your food is very good.......... I don’t want to pay $28.43 for 2 cheeseburgers, 2 orders of fries and 2 sodas!
A first and last...
Read moreFive Guys in Manchester is one of my favorite burger restaurants. They graciously honor putting extra grilled onions in my cheeseburgers. Today, I spoke with Michael, who followed through on my request. He was very polite over the phone.
One of their, "regular fries" feeds four persons in my home. Lolzzzz. 🤣 I love how they season the fries.
I placed my order via DoorDash and my meal was neatly packed. Less than 1 hour later, it still arrived warm. One "cheeseburger", two "small cheeseburgers", one order of regular fries and two shakes were $67. It's expensive yet so worth every penny. Keep in mind that DoorDash typically charges about $1 -$2 more per meal items. I also am subjected to its service fees., etc.
I'd rather buy burgers here than the typical fast food chain were nothing's fresh like at Five Guys.
My family loves their huge, tasty fresh meat patties. One can choose unlimited toppings for the burgers. 😋
I appreciate that this location doesn't seem to run out of yummy milkshakes. A Five Guys restaurant in Hadley, Massachusetts, didn't have any shakes all summer. I bet they actually still don't have any. How could a burger restaurant constantly be out of milkshakes? How could they not fix their...
Read moreGood, tasty burgers; But overpriced. A cheese burger w/bacon, fries and a milkshake came out to $18 per person. So their direct competition isn't BK or McDonalds. No, their direct competition are the casual dining restaurants like PlanB, Ruby Tuesday, Red Robin, and TGI Fridays. These other chains also offer high quality burgers as well. The experience is better at those other restaurants with prices that are actually lower. Customer Service is also lacking at this particular Manchester, CT location. I'm not one to jump on the bandwagon with the rest of the sheeps and give unmerited praise for any establishment because it's popular. I prefer to be honest and do an apple to apples comparison based on price points. It is unfair to compare this with the drive through window franchise place (MickyDs, BK, Wendy's) . Instead, compare their burgers with the better burger places around the Buckland/Evergreen mall surroundings. If you managed to get a good Groupon for five guys, then it might be worth the visit. But again, this place needs to upgrade their customer service with the public. Just a word of caution, take some of the 5 star reviews on here with a...
