This place has good food, but the 3 stars can go to a 5 if they do some easy fixes. First time I was here and I got the burger it tasted pretty burnt. I am not a fan of charbroiled burgers so it is maybe my fault that I ordered it but at least clean your grill or something. The fries were very subpar so on the receipts that advertise free fries does nothing for me. Vanilla shake was expensive and bad. Second time I ordered was great. Got the big beef sandwich with the hot dog. I ordered the third time the same sandwich but they messed up the order and gave me something similar. I wasn't happy because the other time I got way more food and I payed the same price. The fourth time I went here I tried to order a chicken mushroom sandwich but the lady acted stuck up over the phone like she didn't know what it was. I trusted her and I shouldn't have knowing they messed up an easy order last time. They gave me a plain mushroom sandwich that looked nothing like the one on the picture online. These guys should not be paid $15 an hour for not knowing simple menu items and then proceed to argue when I have the menu In front of me. Either way for those of u complaining about time, just call ahead and pick it up. A lot less headache. Just make sure they have your food correct. All in all, id give this place 5 stars because some food items are bad but others are really good and if u can have at least some things consistent then that's all I ask. Oh and another thing. Some workers are cool and others have no business working this type of job if they're going to be doing what they want and at least acting semi professional on the job. Bad attitudes need to keep to them self. Ive worked food service for a few years and I'm sure I haven't come across anything these guys haven't...
Read moreService was fine I guess. But they only really take your order and call your number. They forgot 2 beverages so I needed to go ask for them. Not the end of the world but it was par for the course of the visit.
Every soda we got was flat. They were nice and cold but completely no carbonation. Disappointing but ok.
I had a portillos "hot" dog that was cold and tasted like it was cooked in old dishwater. Really sad because I drove an hour to have one. I've had better from this location a few years ago. Disappointed again.
My wife had a completely charred polish. Which sure, a little char is fantastic, but it should not be so bad that it's all you can taste. Chewing straight carbon is not great. It crumbled when I tried to chew a piece.
The rodeo burger wasn't great. Atrocious BBQ sauce on it. It somehow tastes like even worse Hunts Catsup How is that even possible?? The beef patty was the absolute worst looking quality beef patty I've ever seen. The patty had visible gristle in it. The whole thing tasted of burnt sick. Yuck. Think Walmart brand box of frozen beef patties. I'm not paying 8-9 bucks for that type of beef burger I'm sorry. That's crazy. A whole box cost that much.
The chicken sandwich and tenders were ok. All of it seemed frozen and tasted of freezer. Somehow it was still really bland.
The cake shakes werent bad. And the fries were good. So there's a small win.
To top it all off, the real kicker... Feeding 4 people cost 80 bucks here. Like what? How?? Honestly Burger King would have been better and cost half as much. I won't come back here again sadly. If this is a taste of Chicago, I'm good. Keep your tastes it in...
Read moreStopped here on Memorial Day with one of my kids and was not busy at all which was no problem for us as we were able to order our food immediately. Cashier was very friendly/polite, however they did not ring up our order correctly when we asked for a combo as part of our order. We did not realize this until we received our food and my kid had no fries to go with their burger which meant I had to go do another transaction to get them fries. After seeing someone get their food when they ordered after I ordered my kid's fries, I had to go ask for our fries which was annoying but not the end of the world. This was an exercise in futility though as the fries were less than spectacular since they had no seasoning at all and I'm not sure if that's standard for Portillo's or it was just a simple employee mistake. My kid did love their burger, and ate up every bite of that which can be a rarity for them with restaurant burgers. My jumbo dog was ordered without sport peppers yet it came with sport peppers on it, another annoying occurrence and mistake from the cooks. I also tried the beef & cheddar croissant which is the item I was most excited to try. I would say that the beef & cheddar croissant was the worst item of our order. Hardly any cheese from what I could taste and the croissant just became a sopping mess in an unpleasant way. We had heard good things about Portillo's but I don't see what the fuss is about. $40 for only 1 adult & 1 child to eat lackluster food that should be easy to not screw up has us thinking we will not return...
