ADDENDUM: Since leaving the original review, we've been back 3 times. We went back each time because my hubby loves their shoestring fries. I only went with him because he kept wanting to give then another chance believing that maybe it was a fluke that we caught them on bad days.
There is ZERO communication with the staff. If you need help with something, don't bother waiting or calling out "hello?" They had no ketchup. None for the fries.
After your number comes up, they now just leave the tray there that anyone can claim is their's.
The entire dining room floor, booths and tables as well as restrooms are filthy. There is food setting around that apparently the customer using that booth as well as the staff, aren't cleaning up.
The restrooms have sticky floors and the toilets didn't appear clean. My husband said he walked into the men's room, and changed his mind about using it because it looked like it hadn't been cleaned in months.
≈====≈======================= REVIEW I LEFT AFTER THEY REOPENED:
Since COVID-19, no more waiting for a waitress or walking out because nobody has to seat you anymore--you sit where you want.
Walk in and up to a kiosk (there are four) that show you the menu choices, options (extra onion, no pickles, etc) and prices. It's so EASY, there's no way to mess it up and no way you are locked it. You can easily cancel or start over. Everything is verified at the end before paying. Pay at the kiosk you used to order. If you are paying cash, it's the one beside the door. DONT leave the kiosk until you get your receipt. MAKE NOTE OF THE NUMBER (When your order is ready, they call your number.) Go to the drink bar and get your drink (free refills in Ohio), ketchup, utensils, etc. Pick out where you want to sit down, enjoy your drink and keep an ear out for your number. When finished, clean up after yourself and drop off your trash and tray (like you do at Wendy's, Arbys, and every other fast food place) on your way out the door.
PRICES: They're cheaper than eating at a fast food joint!
IF THERE IS A PROBLEM: Go back by where you got your drink and catch someone's eye, they'll come out. Let them know and they will take care of the problem immediately. No having to wait for a waiter or waitress who is overworked because somebody called off.
SUGGESTION TO OWNER: Be like the local gyms; leave spray cleaners at the wastebasket along with paper towels for your clientele so we can clean our tables...
Read moreI worked as a server at this facility for 3.5-4 years until I was terminated due to a minor inconvenience of miscommunication and unprofessionalism by management. How it usually works in a restaurant is when 2nd shift gets in at 5 pm, it replaces the 1st shift workers, but one day 2nd shift was short-staffed and our management for that day was in a horrendous mood because of it. So, when 5 pm rolled around, I got told by all of the other employees that I was off of the floor, so I got my sidework done, my one coworker had management's numbers to get our tips (which were given to them by our manager), and I left after my shift. Next thing I know, the next morning, 2 or 3 regular employees instead of management themselves text me in order to inform me that I am fired. When every other employee is telling you that you are off the floor, you are going to assume SOMEONE asked management or that management came out and told someone. I am disgusted that they were not able to be more professional about it, communicate with their staff better that they did not want 1st shift leaving just yet, and treat their employees with more respect. You can't hold it against your employees just because you are short-staffed. Hire new people, don't fire employees over simple minor inconveniences due to your miscommunication and unprofessionalism, treat people with respect, or simply get better management skills. I also do not appreciate getting verbally attacked and harassed by another manager through social media when I just made a simple comment about how I was looking for another job and did not even mention anything about the company. Another problem is that they are continuously worried about employees stealing from the registers, but if you are so worried about employees stealing from you then maybe you should not give out your management numbers period. Then, to find out that the coworker that was given management's numbers did not get fired, but I did when they did the same thing that I did. Like, okay. It's time to move on because I know where I stand with this company now. Since management acted in such an unprofessional manner, I did turn this situation into corporate and the better business bureau because I would not want this to happen to anyone else who is a good employee. I honestly won't even be back as a...
Read moreHaven't been to Steak and Shake in quite some time. I can tell you it would take a Miracle for us to go back. First, we didn't know they went to Kiosk ordering. Not that big of a deal. Apparently, our old Steak and Shake accounts don't exist. Ordered and then made new accounts. Again, no big deal. We even both got Free Milkshakes for taking the survey on our receipt. The food was ready fairly quick, it was hot and it was good. The prices have went up quite a bit since we lasted visited. Unfortunately, that is to be expected everywhere. Here were the issues. Other than the staff calling our names for our Orders, we wouldn't have heard one of them speak. Their is ZERO customer service. No one greets you, no one says enjoy your meal(they literally call your name and leave your food on the pickup counter and walk away). My husband's tray was soaking wet. The floors were sticky and needed a good mopping or three. Their is no vinegar with peppers in it for the fries. We had to sit in the vicinity of a family of completely vulgar individuals who did nothing but cuss and carry on the entire time we ate. Maybe if there was someone in the dining room cleaning tables, most of which were dirty, that family might have not acted like it was there dining room at home. We ordered milkshakes to go and the wait said 5-10 minutes. We finished eating, cleaned up our table and went to the pick up counter. No one acknowledged our existence. The manager on duty walked right past us, after we had been standing there for at least 5 minutes and finally started cleaning tables, while she talked on her cell phone on speaker. The girl making milkshakes brought out 2 kids shakes, called the customers name and turned around and went back to the kitchen. Another 4-5 minutes passes and she finally returns to the pick up counter and asks if we are waiting on a pick up order. We say yes. She goes back to, I presume, a freezer and comes right back with our shakes. They were probably ready the whole time, but no one even asks how they can help you. I understand stream lining your business, but when did we take Customer Service completely out of the equation?? I would give the Service a negative if it were possible. The 2 stars are for the food and...
