Just had lunch today with my family that comes up here to visit and we always try to visit the local establishments. Last year when they were here the service was terrible.. they gave away our table and accused us of not having a reservation even though we had and clearly they gave our table away to a smaller group of 10.. as we had 16 and the other ppl had lots of chairs empty and high chairs they didn’t need and we did. The food was great don’t get me wrong on that.. The family came back up again and we made a reservation for 14… We got our table this time and took all our orders, no issue at first. One order didn’t come. We asked and they said they would check on it. 10 minutes later we asked again as they were asking others at our table if we needed anything.. told us it was coming right away, it didn’t. Two other tables that had arrived when we did all had there food and we are still waiting for the one. We asked for the third time if it’s not ready you might as well not bother as all of us were just finishing ours. It came promptly in a couple minutes and the one waitress apologized about it then and mentioned she was going to talk to the manager. When the bill came no discount or any apology from the manager., so we mentioned about it and another waitress stepped in (she had nothing to do with our table) and was extremely rude and tried to use excuses for being short staffed, busy, and the sandwich taking longer… even though we had 3 of the same sandwich ordered with our table.. So a poor excuse. She took our bill in a huff and came back a few minutes later and had removed it. We didn’t ask to have it removed, but her rudeness was uncalled for. An apology from management or small discount would have been better. Needless to say while their food is great, the family said they had another chance and they won’t get a third… Very...

We are from out of town and was told this place was great. We loved the food and loved the customer service from our super friendly and attentive waitress, Lynn.

However, when we went to check out, it was a disaster. The lady (owner, probably) did not even try to use our debit card. There was no sign stating that they don't take debit. She said they run everything as credit only. I was told by her two different stories, the first is that the debit card wouldn't go through because they don't take it, which is a lie because they didn't want to pay the fee. I even OFFERED TO PAY the added fee so I could use my card. She still said no. So I asked her if she would run it as a Visa and she then told me that if she ran it that they wouldn't get paid. (Which didn't make any sense, because it's a DEBIT CARD which comes directly from our bank.) I was so frustrated because she didn't even want to try to help. I eventually ended up going and getting cash - she told me to go the atm 4 blocks away and unfortunately am never going back.

Like I mentioned earlier, the food was good but the lady who checked us out was ridiculous and did nothing to help. Sometimes, even if a place has good food and the waitress is the best, when a higher up manager ruins the experience, it's not worth supporting them. The are many places that I would suggest to go instead like Vierling Restaurant, where they have a fantastic harbor view and every worker is fantastic and friendly from the Owner on down the line. The owner was wonderful and super friendly and we had no problem...

As a server myself, I understand the stress of reservation changes, especially on a busy night. Last night, we had a reservation for twelve people, it started off as ten but we called to change the reservation to add two more seats about five hours before the time we were supposed to be there. When we had walked in we were greeted by the older hostess, Tina. When we had given her the name for our reservation she seemed aggravated with us because it had only said ten on the reservation list. She made a huge deal about it, was unnecessarily rude to our party and we had to watch her walk around throwing her hands up in the air and going to different waitresses loudly complaining on how we had a number change before we were even seated. I understand it was a miscommunication, but it just felt like we were a major inconvenience and seeing her walk around to other staff and loudly complain about us was just very unpleasant and unprofessional. Our waitress was amazing, she was very kind and patient with us and the food was amazing, but the not so warm welcoming made it...

Vango's is a decent little place to visit and eat at. Nothing fancy, just decent food for a decent price, service was good 👍🏾. I forget the lady who was our waitress, but She was kind, talkative, and suggestive, and she returned to the table asking about refills, now that's the type of service I tip for. Oh, she even took the time to observe my hat and thank me for my military 🪖 military service. It was Wednesday so one of the specials was the skewered chicken 🐔 with wild rice, and veggies. I was very happily surprised that the chicken was moist, and the gravy had a nice flavor, Ohhhh but those overcooked veggies. ( sometimes it can be hard to hold them ) unless they have gone passed the ⏰️ hold time and got soft. I may return for fish on Friday.

Vango’s feels like a classic American restaurant—carpeted, comfortable, and built for group dinners, game nights, and repeat visits. We came for dinner and had a great experience. The waffle fries and ranch are absolutely worth the hype—get them as a side or appetizer and thank yourself later. I had the Rudolfi Gyro, which was excellent, and the menu features a wide variety of gyro options if that’s your lane. Plenty of pizzas were flying out of the kitchen and all looked solid—definitely something I’d come back to try. Service was friendly and quick, and the restaurant has a good-sized bar and lots of TVs, so it’s a great place to post up and hang out. Would definitely return—if nothing else, for those waffle fries alone.

To my surprise this restaurant does offer veggie pizza and other veggie options as well. My friends and I were looking for a good option for both non vegetarian and vegetarian food restaurant and we found out this on google maps. We really like the ambience and food options this restaurant serves. Restaurant employees are very friendly and welcoming. The service is fast and up to the mark. We would definitely recommend waffle fries they offer. They nice crispy and tasty. Breadsticks and pizza are flavorsome. Breadsticks are stuffed with mozzarella cheese. Along with Pizza they also offer gyros, burgers, soup and salad. I would surely recommend this restaurant whoever visit Upper Peninsula.
