Chaps Pit Beef Glen Burnie — Restaurant in Maryland

October 28, 2022. I had been going to Chaps Pit Beef for over 10 years and this particular visit was the worse I have ever experienced. I had 2 separate orders and had to keep asking is my orders ready. The first order was a Gus, the Chicken Caesar salad and a medium soda. As usual, I went to get my wife a sweet iced tea and the condiments. At the condiment station, the Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ Sauce pump bottle sprayed the sauce on my shirt because the pump top was not secured to the jug. I called this to the attention of the gentleman working near the condiment area. He immediately picked up the jug to ascertain what was the problem and offered to pour some in the container for me. This was good but I still have BBQ sauce on my shirt. Then I filled my wife soda cup to find out there were NO LIDS for the medium cups but plenty lids for large or small cups. Next after watching several people who came in after me get their orders I went to the counter and inquired about my order. They could not locate my food items. I thought maybe the salad was the hold up so I then ordered a large order fries and another soda. After watching a few more people get their orders I asked the young lady where is my order because I observed her bringing orders to people that were both before and after me. At this time she handed me the bag and said the other worker called the number but no one answered. I was seated directly infront of the pick up window watching the man place orders in the bags and writing numbers on the bags but neither me or my wife heard our number called. When my wife got her salad she said the chicken was cold and spongy. My wife took her salad back to the front and told them she could not eat it because the chicken was cold and spongy. She told me the cook then took the same chicken and returned it to the grill to "heat it up". My wife told them to just refund her money because his actions (returning a customers food to the cooking grill) were unsanitary. Her card was credited a refund. After eating half of my cold sandwich, I went back to the pickup window and asked for my fries. Everybody vegan adking what happened to the fries. The man at the window simply stated they haven't been cooked yet. Mind you this was about 10 minutes and stsnding there watching other people get their fries. I asked for a refund for the fries snd told the young lady that my wife and I drove over 40 miles just to have lunch there and we are totally displeased and I would rate this one visit as bad as the last visit to the Baltimore location that prompted me to telephone the owners to complain about how that location wrapped burned and dry grilled chicken in my take home order. The young lady apologized and said it has been a strange day with so many online and call in orders. I reminded her of my last visit and there being only 3 staff that day and orders seemed to flow with out any issues. My question was how is it today I clearly see 5 or 6 workers and such mishaps could occur. Then I remembered the (attached) notice afixed to the window where you pick up orders and realizing we were the only customers waiting to pick up food that looked different from the man handing out the orders and the customers around us that were eating. There was a group of other guys but the young lady personally hand delivered them their order..... If the pictures do not show, its a small pictureof President pointing to reasons why "you now have to pay" for items that were allegedly...

WHAT Fish & Pit Beef Platters Look Like THIS??? And Miniature Coleslaw going Bad. Chaps Suppose2B Gud??? Maybe it is just THIS Glen Burnie Location that is so subpar. Fri Evening 6/27/25. $31.27 for This. Something from Hades. They doin some Real Crazy Work Here. Arby's, Sonic, or Mickie D's Come Thru Better. Shameful. Retched. Sloppy. Greasy. Messy. Highly Unnappetizing. Nothing Fresh. Smelling Bad. Looking Bad. We need the Option to give absolutely NO stars for some Reviews. None Whatsoever. This was Hands-Down THE Most Disgusting, Nastiest, Most Trifling appearing & smelling Food(?) I'VE EVER GOTTEN IN MY ENTIRE LIFE.

I WOULD NOT FEED THIS TO A PET. NOR A STRAY ANIMAL. Would actually Feel Sorry for MY enemy if They Ate This.

A friend of mines came over Smiling saying he wanted to Try Something Different. I opened my food container and asked him what it was he said A FIsh Platter. I immediately KNEW SOMETHING WAS OFF BY THE ODOR & appearance. I picked a chunk of the " fish" up and a piece fell off (that is not a bite in the photo) and my fingers were glistening in GREASE. Smelled like Rancid cooking oil. Everything was So GREASY, Slimy, and Burnt/Chemical Smelling ALL I could do was stand there and look: I told him I wasn't eating That MESS.

I also told him NOT to touch HIS "Pit Beef Platter" because it looked & smelled FAR worse than my Fish Platter. No idea why he tried to eat some of this MESS looking uncomfortable with the bites he did take. Aint that much Hungry in the World. Nor Risk of possibly getting Sick. And: It Smelled Nothing like Beef. Also said he needs to try to take Receipts & Containers in when they open Get his money back for WHATEVER this was he paid for from this place.

Other Reviews not gr8. Does the Owner even read them? This food was TERRIBLE. LOOK AT THE PHOTOS AND THINK: WOULD YOU WANT YOUR FAMILY & FRIENDS.TO EAT THIS??? WOULD U EAT IT?

WHEN I SAY THAT I HAVE NEVER IN MY LIFE RECEIVED (WHAT IS SUPPOSED TO BE FOOD) LOOKING & SMELLING LIKE THIS IT IS THE HONEST TO GOD'S TRUTH.

Limp, Wet, Greasy "Handcut FRIES" LOOK LIKE THEY chop SOME UNWASHED POTATOES, DIPPED THEM IN OLD LUKEWARM, BAD, OLD OIL, REUSED 200+ x's, THEN JUST DUMPED THEM IN THE TO-GO CONTAINER. AND U SEE THEIR "FISH" AND "PIT BEEF."

NEED GORDON RAMSEY.

STAFF DOESNT SEEM LIKE THEY'RE BEING TALKED TO & TREATED TOO GOOD EITHER.VERY UNORGANIZED. EVERYTHING SEEMS A HOT MESS. Place does seem clean though.

Terrible. I've been to this location 4-5 times over the last few years and yesterday evening's visit was terrible. It was about 7 pm when we arrived. Staff was all huddle together in the kitchen. There are several signs on the bulletin board, wall, and near the register stating that customers need to listen carefully when the person takes their order and reads it back to them, they need to check their bag before leaving the counter to ensure they received all items in their order correctly and completely, and they will need to bring uneaten food when requesting a replacement or refund. All of these items should have been red flags to turn around and walk away but we didn't. We were informed that they did not have fountain drinks at all. It appeared the soda machine has been out of service for a little while. We were offered a very sad selection of bottles drinks and a cup for ice. Our order was prepared correctly and completely, we ordered two pit beef sandwiches and sides of macaroni and cheese, green beans, and fries to share. The counter near the soda machine was dirty with spilled sauce, melted ice/water, and trash. The fries were bitter from overused oil. The macaroni and cheese tasted like nothing. The green beans tasted like they were about a week old. Rolls tasted like they were on the verge of being green and fuzzy. About the only thing I ate without hesitation was the pit beef. The horseradish sauce in cups was not on ice and tasted like nothing. The floor in the dining room was filthy, tables could have used a wipe down. Ladies bathroom floor was wet and had torchier light in it instead of the light fixture in the room being used? There's two soap dispensers, one no-touch that didn't work and the other had a button that stuck in making it impossible to get more than one really sad little squirt of soap out. The bathroom was generally dirty. If there's no customers coming in, what a golden opportunity to sweep, wipe down tables, clean the bathroom - right? I'm not saying that every spare second should be spent scrubbing, but trash and stepped-on fries might be a good idea to pick up when it's quiet. How long is that soda machine going to be down? Maybe restocking that cooler near the cashier might be nice? We came here because we've had a few disappointing visits to another pit beef place but instead, this was much worse than we could have bargained for. I'm not expecting elegance but this place is not doing the Chaps...
