Sushi Friends — Restaurant in Maryland

My boyfriend and I were SO excited to have stumbled upon this hidden gem of a place we have been going together frequently i’d say maybe going on about a year now. Sushi was amazing the staff were really friendly up until recently. They have a new lady there with whom i’ve interacted with twice now and each time I just felt like a bother to her. First time I tried to order a roll my boyfriend and i really enjoy and she ran over to the kiosk to stop me and offer me some sushi they had made up in the case. Which I was fine with… I’ve worked in food service and it seemed to me maybe the person rolling may have been on lunch and I didn’t know how long id be waiting so I purchased what was there and left.

This most recent time really hurt my feelings though. I was with my boyfriend he pre-ordered over the phone for us as a little surprise it was great… Until we asked for an extra pair of chopsticks assuming one was already in the bag and without even really glancing up she kind of scoffs and says “it’s in the bag”. We open the bag and there was a delicious roll in there but, no chopsticks unfortunately… you can call me rude but I turn the bag upside down to show her there was nothing in there. Had a very unpleasant experience at this place this afternoon.

I put in three orders of spicy tuna, spicy california roll and spicy salmon roll at the kiosk. Easy.

10 minutes later, I go to pick it up. Oh, they say, we put it in the "done" pile, we have not started it yet. It will be 15 more minutes.

I wait and wait and wait. 25 minutes later, it's done. I should have walked out but really wanted sushi.

When the order was ready, no apology, no explanation - nothing. They handed me the bag and said, "here you go." Literally, "here you go."

Mistakes happen - I get it. But you need to say sorry, or offer something or do something. "Here you go."

Definitely never coming...

This is a fantastic hidden gem. OMGoodness, the Diamond Roll is a masterpiece of delicious, filling freshness full of flavor. The Philly Roll was my daughter’s favorite, made in perfect proportion of ingredients. The Ikura sashimi is firm, salty and has a depth of color and flavor we’ve not experienced before but will return for. Kindest service to top it off.
