Tropical Smoothie Cafe — Restaurant in Maryland

I'm not one to write reviews but my recent experience at this establishment was uncalled for. I went into the store to order a wrap and a young lady at the counter rang up my order, reached over to my end of the machine and press a green button then I was asked to insert my card. When I received my receipt I noticed that she had included a tip on her own without my consent. When I asked her about it she said "oh no, there was no tip on it". I didn't understand what she meant as I stared at my receipt which clearly had a tip added to it. ( I would like to reiterate that my issue is not about giving a tip, it is the fact that it was taken without my consent and I was gaslighted when I asked about it.) This makes me wonder if this is done regularly without customers awareness.

When I spoke to the manager about this issue, he was extremely short with me and before seeking to understand what I was saying he stated that I added the tip on my own and that his employee could not do it for me. As I stood infront of him in the store, he looked at his employee and said "you've done nothing wrong, it's her." Even after I told him she reach over to press a green button, he said to me "no, it was you."

I'm confused.

I asked for a refund, which I was issued and as I walked out of the store the manger stated that he doesn't want to "deal with a customer like me anyways."

I don't appreciate being stolen from, gaslighted and disrespected.

I don't appreciate an establishment that encourages it's employee to steal and lie rather than learn from what I would hope to believe was an error.

I had a horror ole smoothie. I usually go to the smoothie king but, I decided to go to the tropical Smoothie Cafe and it was a waste of my time, gas, money, and taste buds. The smoothie tasted as if they used frozen fruit (which is not a bad thing) that had been freezer burned or thawed then friezes and thawed then frozen. My smoothie tasted like water that had powder put in it and a banana added to it. And smoothie should be taken out of their title, there was nothing smooth about my smoothie. It was full chunky ice. The ice was so chunky I couldn’t drink a lot at once, I had to continue to adjust my straw, blow into my straw to clear it or continue to spit out chunks of ice if I didn’t want to chew it before swallowing. I usually get vegan items since my stomach can tolerate only certain fruits and I can have cow products either. I asked the employee if the pea protein powder could be tasted or noticed in the smoothie. He (I’m unsure of his name) said I don’t know I love never tasted the pea protein or any of the proteins so I don’t know. When I was ordering I asked the female employee which smoothies were vegan. She had no idea what vegan smoothies were. 🤦🏾‍♀️🤦🏾‍♀️🤦🏾‍♀️🤦🏾‍♀️

The only reason I rated them a 2 instead of a 1 is because my husband ordered the shrimp quesadillas and they were rather tasted but I wasn’t there for food, I was there for a smoothie. If i could give 0 zero’s star i would. these location is HORRIBLE & has gone down in the last few years. I placed an order for delivery & an item was missing. I immediately called up there to get a refund for said item. the “manager” begin to say he could not process a refund because he knows for a fact since he personally gave the driver said missing item. So not only did he accuse this driver of being a thief (which he did not steal said item). He also stated a refund was not possible.
