Ive been to that place before and their prices were kind of high. We went again and saw that they had improved the place and it was nice and cute. We went on a Sunday night and it wasn't busy, only us and 3 more 2-tops were already sitting when we arrived. The food was good and the prices had been adjusted, but the service was NOT good. After they gave us our food. The server didn't check on us til like 30 min after she gave us our food, didn't ask if we needed drinks or anything. Tried to wave her or someone down 2x and no one saw us. We originally ordered a hot green tea and a sprite. And with all that rice and sushi, you deff need something to drink.its just natural that after waiting for a few rolls to be made, plus after having appetizers...we would need a refill on our beverages. My date decided not to tip since we were left alone for such a long time and usually i don't let him do that, but the service was barely existent. I understand that alot of ppl make their money off tips, but it wasn't busy at all, and even though she was on the phone the whole time with someone in her ear piece, the LEAST she coulda done was LOOK over at the three tables she had to make sure everyone looked ok. She came out to give another table something and didn't even turn her head to look at us. As if she had imaginary blinders. The next day, my date checked his bank account and THEY GAVE THEMSELF A TIP!! Luckily it wasn't a crazy tip, but still. It's fraud. It's stealing.
We thought we found our new spot..but i guess not. I see from other reviews that lunchtime seems to be the time to go. I work in the service industry myself, so I know how it is...maybe we shoulda left a $5 tip vs nothing..but who knows, maybe they woulda changed it to a $50 tip vs a $5 tip. Sucks that people can't be honest these days..or really have accountability that for a customer, their service sucked and was less than bare minimum. We went to a pho spot earlier this week and had a server who seemed irritated, buuuuut he made sure we were okay every 15 min, and he deff had an eye on everyone even when he was eating his own dinner and was also on the phone. Wish this experience coulda...
Read moreWhen I crave sushi-I crave sushi from this place. It is some of the best consistent quality, value, selection and service I have experienced from any restaurant. It is strictly a sushi bar with udon, bento and tempura offerings but not as traditionally old school with their menu and it’s THE BEST because they have a massive selection of special rolls with creative and delicious combinations of ingredients.
The rice always tastes freshly made, the sushi rolls are on the larger size, the seafood ingredients in the rolls are consistently good. When I lived locally, this was my go to place for lunch or dinner. At 10-12 dollars average for most of the special rolls, it’s in the sweet spot of price points for sushi before getting into very traditional sushi bars with the highest quality sashimi but also a less creative menu and slower service.
The wait staff is great. One waitress has a flat and wonderfully unobtrusive tone of voice. She is polite, attentive and keeps my green tea topped off-impressive because I go through it pretty quickly. If she mentioned they have fresh scallops, try them, they’re amazing.
The dessert options are quite good. You can’t go wrong with green tea ice cream or fried bananas.
The ambience in the dining area is pleasant and obviously done with care, without being excessively modern and leaving you wondering how much of your bill contributes to their decor. Seating is mostly booths, which I like for having that separation from other diners (pre-pandemic).
They the best implementation of social distancing precautions I have seen to date. They only offer take-out now and have retrofitted the atrium into a tiny ordering lobby. You order through a windowed door and there is a two way drawer compartment through which you can pass your payment method and...
Read moreNot the cheapest sushi, but definitely the best sushi in either Glen Burnie or Pasadena. You may be surprised to hear this, but something else that you absolutely must try here is the chicken yakisoba. After eating at dozens of Chinese/Japanese restaurants all over the place (including in multiple countries), I can honestly say this is hands-down the best yakisoba I’ve ever had. I think that a lot of people enjoy Chinese/Japanese noodles as a goto comfort food, and I would say this is the epitome of that. There’s something about the light texture, and the combination of spices and such that they put into it that really sets it apart from anything else similar I’ve ever tried. I find myself trying yakisoba whenever I go to any other Chinese/Japanese restaurant, just to see if there are any others that even compare, but...
