I had my wedding rehearsal brunch at Papa'Aina this morning and WOW!!! I wasn't sure what to expect (planning a destination wedding is a fun process, but you don't get to see a lot of the venues in person before you book), but they exceeded every single expectation I had. First of all, we had booked a private room inside the restaurant in advance, but they decided to move the brunch outside to their GORGEOUS courtyard as a surprise! So when I arrived, I felt like I had walked into a dream--the sun was shining, the trees were gently blowing in the wind, the birds were singing, and there were tables and place settings just for my rehearsal brunch!
The staff is incredible--quick, efficient, and the most kind and generous people you will ever meet. Every guest was taken care of, every moment of the event. The manager, Rich, was warm, friendly, and personally saw to it that every guest was welcomed and taken care of. We are so appreciative of the incredible people there that made this day a reality.
The food--my friends and family were RAVING about the delicious food served at our brunch. Chef Lee Ann created culinary heaven for myself and my family. We had 3 courses and everyone left satisfied and full! I heard things like "best meal I've had in a really long time" and "food is incredible" for 2 straight hours! Everyone absolutely loved her cooking. She is simply the best!
I will never forget their kindness, attention to detail, or their warm welcome. Planning and executing a destination wedding can be stressful at times, but they just took care of everything for us and we didn't have to worry about a thing today. Absolute slam dunk, LIGHTS OUT, incredible event at Papa'Aina. Thank you so much...
Read moreThis might have been the biggest ripoff we've ever experienced. $110 for a breakfast worth maybe $30.
You'd think at those prices, you'd get breakfast made to order. But, no. They were pulling premade sandwiches from the fridge and tossing them in an oven for a couple of minutes.
If you get an egg biscuit, you might expect that for $20+ bucks you'd get a freshly fried egg. But you don't. You get spongy a yellow puck, like the "egg" in an egg McMuffin.
We got a tropical fruit platter that was comically stingy, and some of the fruit was slightly rotten.
The "French toast" was a bizarre fried mess that would have been more at home in a New Jersey county fair. And the "billion dollar bacon" was so named because it reflected the price, not the quality. It was two thin strips of just-okay bacon, topped with brown sugar and pepper.
All this mediocre food is served in plastic or cardboard shell containers... You know, like the way airport food is handed to you. In fact, the entire dining experience was more or less exactly like an airport bistro, down to plastic utensils.
The food was insanely, insanely overpriced, and made without an ounce of love or artistry... and served in the laziest possible fashion.
I've never felt so taken advantage of by a restaurant. It's infuriating.
The owners of this establishment owe us and all their other...
Read moreSad about this one. Most hit and miss meal I have had in quite some time. The
reason that it goes into two star territory for me is the price ($97 before tip. Three people eating, no alcohol, one latte). I’ve been a fan of Lee-Ann Wong since Top Chef 1, so I was really looking forward to the meal.
Everything was gorgeously plated. The service was a bit slow, but the server was very kind.
The winners: breakfast ramen, the sea green salad and the latte. The salad was amazing. Really fresh and balanced. I didn’t have any ramen, but it looked gorgeous and my brother said it was delicious. The latte was perfect.
The not winners: the coconut chia pudding, the tropical fruit plate, and the coffee. The coconut chia pudding was pretty tasteless. The fruit plate looked beautiful but some of the fruits honestly tasted like they were there for looks rather than taste. No doubt on its freshness, but some of the fruit just wasn’t tasty. And the pineapple was cut poorly (most of it was core). The coffee was warm and just not good.
The good things were really good, the bad...
