We have eaten here multiple times, service is quick and efficient. Food quality is very good. We really enjoy the brussel sprouts and the French kiss salad. I haven’t found a sandwich or burger to order again but their pizzas are excellent and their pick a protein option with two sides and a salad is a great deal though I did not enjoy the eggplant parmigiana. Their happy hour is one of our favorites but we went today (granted less than 10 minutes left in happy hour) but were told they stop giving out happy hour menus 15 minutes before happy hour actually ends and that their computers won’t let you submit happy hour orders up until 6pm …if this is true we don’t blame the workers but should be reassessed by management. I think almost all places I have been before are happy to take orders up until happy hour actually ends but maybe I have been lucky. Overall - great food but make sure you you get there with plenty of time for happy hour Update: 2/29/24 - we went back with plenty of time for happy hour. We ordered two of the seasonal draft Great Lakes (Conway ale) only to find out when we got the bill that they were not included in the $5 draft pints despite not stating anywhere on their menu that this was the case nor did our server preface this when we were ordering. Just seems super sketchy and deceiving after being told happy hour ends 15 minutes before the scheduled time. The brussel sprouts and cauliflower wings were not as crispy as we have come to expect but flavor was still good. The steak tacos were both dry (from the meat) and had a lot of juice coming off from the pico de gallo. The French kiss salad is still a great fresh choice but make sure if you go for happy hour make sure to 1) get there early (not because they are busy) 2) confirm that even if you order from the HH menu that it in...
Read moreWhile visiting my family from Alabama we stopped at Cafe 56 for lunch. My sister and daughter and granddaughter were with me. My sister and I ordered salads, my daughter ordered the veggie burger that was topped with the salad mixture. My granddaughter got chicken tenders. We ordered our drinks and waited for the food. The waitress brought out our food and as my sister started to put her fork in the salad out crawled a bug. Neither my daughter or I started eating as we were shocked and disgusted. I quietly went over to a waitress that was cleaning tables and told her about the bug. There were other patrons and I did not want to announce the fact that there were bugs in the food. She got our waitress who proceeded to take the salad for examination. The waitress came back with the manager, a woman. They told us that the bug was a cucumber beetle as if it was OK to eat the food on the table and they would make a new salad. My daughter and I stated that we had not touched our food and had no intention of eating it They removed the food and conferred by the cash register. The waitress and manager returned to our table. The manager gave us a thirty dollar gift card for Cafe 56. (As if we would ever go there again.) The manager told us the looked up the bug and it was indeed a cucumber beetle. The waitress then presented us with a bill for our drinks and the chicken tenders. She then mentioned that she forgot to add the hot tea to the bill but she was not going to charge us for that. I paid the bill and we left the restuarant. We did not make a fuss nor were we loud as we did not want to alarm the other patrons. We will not go back there nor will we use...
Read moreWhere to begin? We visited this place Saturday around 5:30 PM. It felt like it took a half an hour for the waitress to acknowledge our existence when she finally did she brought over water and our two sodas. My Dr Pepper was barely carbonated.
Took forever to get our food! So far, I believe we’ve been waiting for about an hour
My husband ordered a chicken dish with a couple sides and it came out fine
I ordered the daily special of blackened walleye, and it came to me as RAW!!!
I wanted to talk to the manager, but she never showed up but the cook did and apologized and offered me cheesecake at no charge. I told him I want my food and I don’t This message to wait another hour. I didn’t want to repeat the order so I ordered with my husband got and again I had to wait and wait and wait while my husband was still eating.
I actually went up to the manager, who seemed like she could care less and told her you don’t serve people raw fish!!! Also told her we’ve been sitting here for over an hour. The service was horrible. The food was traumatizing to me.
Lastly, when I did get the chicken, it was in two dry parts. It was not good. I couldn’t wait to get out of there. I will never come back to this place again.
So they tried to charge me for the chicken dish I ordered and a salad. I never got. Unbelievable horrific service. My husband had a flag down the manager once again cause it seemed like she could care less about our experience and she finally agreed to comp...
