We grew up coming to McCall - we're regulars. Married there, come back every year. Several restaurants have been our go-to every time we visit. This year, everything was very disappointing - bad service, bad food.
Spitfire was a standout, in the best way.
Our service: fantastic. Isabella was sweet, and playful (patient) with our daughter. Quick to order, very courteous with our drinks and food.
Our food: outstanding. The smash burger taco sounds, odd. It's truly the thing I most enjoyed eating in McCall. It's fresh, different, and fun. The pricing on the menu is very reasonable. We each had two tacos, shared a side and left quite full. The chips and street corn are to-die for. Our one year old loved the Al Pastor, as did we. The menu is labeled for allergens and the waitress was accommodating.
Perhaps I say too much praise, but we ate at a lot of establishments this week, and none compared to Spitfire. Thanks for the meal,...
Read moreI want to start with the positives. I ordered the California shrimp taco, my partner got the carne asada taco. We thought they were pretty tasty! Servers were all very nice as well!
The negatives: I believe both of our meals were $8 each and thought this was reasonable price. Until our plates come out and we both get a single taco. What? We were expecting at least 2 tacos on the plates. I’ve never been to a restaurant that serves a single taco. That was it for food. No chips and dip, and no sides. Just a single taco for $8. Again, maybe we just missed the disclosure, but we looked over the menus another time after we finished and didn’t see anything, but at least put it in the description or something. Then to not at least have one serving of chips and dips, it was just a...
Read moreThis restaurant has certainly come a long way since opening day—unfortunately, in the wrong direction. On my latest visit, we waited at least thirty minutes to get our order in, twenty more for chips and queso, just to have food come out before we could eat two chips, and well over a half hour just to pay. With only a few tables occupied, one can only imagine the chaos if it were actually busy. Separate checks were apparently too much to request, and drink refills for soda or water must be considered optional. It’s impressive, really, how a two-hour dinner can feel this unhurried without a hint of hospitality. If you’re going to make people wait that long, at least have TV’s with something to watch.
Yes, I would try it again. Just let me know where/how to get...
