I spend A LOT of money at Smoothie King and the location depends on if I’m near my office, house, or out of town on business. I order the exact same drink every single day and have never had a problem at any location EXCEPT for this one. I just moved the this area a few months ago and stopped by my first day here. I asked for no protein powder in my smoothie like always, as I have a medical condition that only allows my body to process a small amount of protein a day so I have to be very careful I don’t ever add additional protein to my food. This is no one’s business, and I don’t owe an explanation to anybody about why I don’t want added protein in my drink. The guy taking my order gave me an attitude the moment I asked for no protein, and that’s never happened before at any other location. I didn’t understand why he was so upset... I’m still paying for the protein and they get to save on the product- what’s the big deal? Well, the moment I got in the car and took a sip I knew immediately he put it in anyway. I have this drink every single day and would know the difference in a heartbeat. I thought about going back in and asking why he did that, but I honestly didn’t want to deal with his attitude. I was running late and decided against my better judgment to just drink it anyway. Wrong decision. I broke out in hives for days and had kidney and liver pain, as my body was not used to the surge in protein. I thought about calling the owner, but didn’t want to get some ignorant kid fired for being a jerk since I chose to drink the darn thing when I knew better. After that I avoided this location until a few weeks ago, as it’s conveniently located near my house. My mom who works for me went in to get one for me on our way home from work and she ordered my usual. She knew what had happened last time I went there because I was so sick, so she was very adamant about no protein. The guy gave her such a hard time and said that they still would put the protein in because it’s “vegan” and won’t make a difference. What?!? Since when did it become okay for then to make that decision? Do SK employees think they’re above the customer to make those decisions for them? Do they think we’re incompetent enough that we can’t read the menu and know exactly what we’re ordering? I was in the parking lot waiting forever wondering what was going on, because he was arguing with my mother and just kept saying “it’s vegan” and she kept saying “I don’t care, don’t put it in!” Eventually another employee came out and the guy handed our order off to him. He was kind and did the order exactly as asked. It was perfect and delicious just like it always is at every other location, but we were both shocked that making such a small request got this other guy so worked up that he had to hand us off to someone else. When we were pulling out of the parking lot, we saw him come outside and it looked like he was blowing steam. Fast forward a few weeks, mom has been going in every few days as I’ve been working from home more lately, and every time she said someone there gets all worked up when she asks for no protein. She admitted to them that I had a medical condition and to please stop making us feel bad for such a simple order every single time we come in. Finally, today was the last straw. She went in, ordered, got the usual push back, and so she got the card for the owner. When she left she called the “owner” and the manager who had been giving her a hard time on this visit picked up the phone. She said they don’t like making adjustments to the drinks because people would complain that it doesn’t taste good. Really?? Are you serious?? Guess what?! No one cares what you “think” or “like” to do. The customer is always right and you treating people like they’re incompetent and like they don’t know what’s best for their own health is absolutely ridiculous and it’s humiliating to explain ourselves every time we go in. We’ll never set foot inside this location again and you can take your “but it’s vegan” protein...
Read moreI went into this Smoothie King yesterday for the first time in a few years. I used to enjoy spending my money at this location. Everyone was nice, professional, and I got my smoothie quickly. Well, things have changed. This location is under new ownership and this new guy has some learning to do when it comes to customer service and general manners. I walk in at 2:30 or so in the afternoon. There are 5 customers in the store, including myself, but nobody has a smoothie yet. So, already I’m starting to worry about how this visit is going to go. I stand there at the counter, patiently waiting to be acknowledged by the guy behind the counter (I realized later that he was the owner). After 5 mins or so, he comes up and tells me he’ll be right with me. I’m thinking to myself, “Dude, you should tell your employee to come out of the back and help you.” Well, he didn’t have any employees on the clock, which seems like it was a mistake. He makes a couple smoothies for the first two guys in line and then comes and takes my order. I order two small smoothies. He goes back and makes a smoothie for a police officer that was standing in line ahead of me. When he hands the officer his smoothie he starts chatting with the officer for several minutes about some guy that he had to ban from the store earlier that day. Mind you, this guy has no help. So, finally they’re done chatting and the guy behind the counter starts making another smoothie. I continue to stand there just waiting and hoping that this next smoothie was one of the two that I ordered. Nope. See, there were two other people in there sitting at a table, and at this point I didn’t realize that they DIDN’T have smoothies. So, the guy behind the counter walks up with two smoothies. I’ve been in the store for 20 mins at this point, so I’m thinking these have got to be mine. I was wrong. So, finally he starts making my smoothies. I continue to wait, but by now, I’m pacing a little bit because I got places to be and I’m starting to get frustrated. After a few more minutes, he walks up with ONE smoothie, hands it to me, and tells me a price. I’m like, “Sir, I ordered two smoothies.” He looks puzzled and goes and looks at something and says, “oh yeah, let me start your other one.” My heart sank. I was so ready for a delicious smoothie, but I was simply out of time. Remember, I’ve been in the store for 30 mins now. So, I just turn to walk out of the store. The owner says, “Are you leaving?” I’m like, “yeah, I gotta go.” The part that really got me though was when I said I had to go, this dude has the audacity to tell me to never come back to his store again. This is ridiculous. I spend 30 mins in a smoothie shop and leave because I ran out of time waiting for two smoothies during a period of time that would not be considered a high-volume moment for his business. It’s kind of sad because he didn’t even realize why I was leaving. Personally, I think this dude is going to run this location out of business. Hire some help, be nice, and quit banning all...
Read moreNormally I get fruit or vegetable smoothies because I'm lactose intolerant but ive had some intense workouts and feeling like maybe I needed a protein boost. I explained to the young kid behind the counter that I'm lactose intolerant and asked if they could replace the milk with almond milk. He said no problem and I waited for my smoothie. I got it and half way to work I got nauseous as he'll and had to pull over to vomit and have explosive diarrhea. I called the manager when I got to work and was locked up in the bathroom sick as hell and she told me all proteins are dairy based and I should have asked for a vegan smoothie and that they don't train their employees about food allergies. As a consumer I don't know what these guys sell but if I tell you I'm lactose intolerant and I order something with lactose it would seem to be common sense to warn me that what I ordered contains something I'm allergic to. The comment about not training employees about food allergies worried me the most cause had I had a nut allergy and you gave me nuts I'd be dead. Pretty much smoothie king gave me food poisoning this morning and I've been throwing up and not holding down food all day but ive still had to perform my job cause I don't get the luxury of sick days. They Did offer me a free smoothie but honestly I'd rather them train better so this doesn't happen to someone else. Most likely not taking up the free...
