I love Jims pizza. I've been ordering delivery from there for years. But tonight I was told that there would be an additional $5 delivery fee because I live in an apartment. I asked why, and was told it was based on "driver feedback"(?). I paid a "driver-distance" fee based on my distance from Jims when they were located on University. I cant think of any other situation where I've ever been charged extra based on the type of place I lived, and I would certainly never agree to pay more. It feels smarmy and discriminatory. I wont be ordering, or visiting, again so long as such a terrible fee is in place. I gave them 2 stars instead of one because the pizza really is good. Very reminiscent of Pizza Inn, a long-passed favorite of mine.
EDIT: I've updated my rating based on the owners comments below. And thanks for mostly clearing that up. I am west of Ridge so it is (and has been) the same fee for houses and/or apartments despite the inaccurate information I received when calling. I can understand and accept paying extra for being outside of a delivery area, and I'm glad I havent been paying more for living in an apartment. I did knock a star for even having the apartment policy though, even if I'm unaffected. Nobody should have to pay more (or less) for the type of place they live. Otherwise Jims is a fantastic place with friendly, personable, employees and...
Read moreHello,
When I first moved to McKinney, I didn’t find many places I truly enjoyed eating — but Jim’s Buffet became one of my favorites, especially for an inexpensive pizza spot. I even took my mom there recently, telling her it was my go-to. Unfortunately, our visit was disappointing.
She ordered a salad but wasn’t able to eat it due to the knat in the salad before she even put it on her plate, which made me feel bad after recommending the place. The restaurant itself also feels like it’s in need of some updates — it’s been open a long time, but the space looks tired, unorganized, and could really benefit from a remodel not even a super expensive one just clean it up the floor looks bad as ur sitting from the booth looking into the kitchen while you eat.
My personal favorite part has always been the ice cream, but lately even that has been inconsistent, with grit-like pieces in it. It’s frustrating because if the food and quality were consistently good, I’d have no hesitation recommending Jim’s Buffet to everyone I know.
As a loyal customer, I’m sharing this feedback because I care about the place and want to see it thrive. I hope the quality and environment can be brought up to the standard I know...
Read moreEDIT: Jim's pizza reached out and offered a free pizza to make things right. I truly appreciate the gesture and will take them up on it! EDIT2: I got the chicken bacon ranch pizza re-made and it is DELICIOUS! The staff is super friendly and the food is excellent! I will definitely keep coming back.
Initial review: not a good experience at all. First I placed the order online and waited 15 minutes to come pick up two pizzas and wings. When I arrived to pick it up, I was told they didn't have my order and that maybe I ordered for Mr. Jim's pizza instead. After showing them the receipt, they found my online order and made it. When I got home, I discovered that the pizza with the ranch sauce, chicken bacon and onions was actually made with RED sauce (picture attached). Needless to say, it tastes BAD and just weird. And so the ranch sauce I paid extra for was not there. Guess I'm out that money. The BBQ chicken pizza is super thin crust and extremely sweet. Wings are not bad! I've been here before and it was pretty good. Based on this I'm not going to be able to come back--$50 for food that's just not good, at all. I tried giving my dog a piece of the pizza, she refused...
