I had an absolutely phenomenal experience at McAlister's Deli on Lemay Ferry Rd during a recent lunch visit, and I can't stop raving about it! I ordered the Sweet and Smoky Chicken Sandwich, which was an absolute masterpiece. The grilled chicken was tender and juicy, slathered in a smoky, tangy BBQ sauce that had just the right balance of sweet and savory. The crispy, thick-cut bacon added a perfect crunch, and the melted cheddar was gooey and rich, all nestled in a perfectly toasted ciabatta bun that held everything together without getting soggy. The side of macaroni was a creamy, cheesy delight--smooth, velvety, and packed with that comforting, homey flavor that makes you want to savor every bite. And let's talk about that pickle slice on the side: it was crisp, refreshingly tangy, and cut just thick enough to add a zesty pop to the meal, elevating the whole plate.
Of course, I couldn't resist pairing my meal with McAlister's Famous Sweet Tea, and it was pure perfection--ice-cold, with a balanced sweetness that wasn't overpowering, served in a massive cup that kept me sipping happily throughout the meal. The portion sizes were generous, especially for the price, which felt like a steal for the quality and quantity.
The service was outstanding from start to finish. The staff greeted me with genuine smiles and were incredibly attentive, even during a packed lunch rush. My order was prepared quickly--within 10 minutes, despite the line--and everything came out exactly as requested. The cashier even took a moment to chat about the menu, which made the experience feel personal and welcoming. The dining area was spotlessly clean, with tables wiped down promptly and a warm, casual atmosphere that's perfect for a quick bite or a leisurely meal with friends. The decor, with its cozy yet modern vibe, added to the inviting feel, and the background music was just loud enough to create ambiance without drowning out conversation.
What really stood out was the attention to detail across the board--fresh ingredients, a well-executed meal, and a team that clearly cares about making customers happy. This McAlister's has nailed the balance of quality, speed, and hospitality. It's become my go-to spot in the area, and I'm already looking forward to my next visit to try more of the menu (those giant spuds are calling my name!). If you're near Lemay Ferry Rd and craving a satisfying, delicious meal with top-notch service, this place is an absolute must. Highly,...
Read moreYallllllllll don't go to McAlister's Deli in SoCo on Lindbergh! Today I got a Pecanberry Salad to go for lunch and was disgusted when I found this bug moving in it, while eating it. I wasn't going to even do anything since I didn't want to leave work again and drive all the way back up there but my coworker said to at least call and give them a heads up so they know that they need to wash their lettuce and fruit better before serving it to anyone else. So I took some pictures and videos in case they needed proof, called and spoke with the manager on duty named Chris. I started with I'm pretty disgusted that there's a bug in my salad so it seems like the ingredients need washed better, just to give them a heads up. He went in full defense mode and said how can you blame me for this, that it's not their fault, we wash everything, said he didn't want me to send him the pictures or videos, as if he didn't really care or must get this issue a lot. Then offered me a discount card, which I declined because I don't plan on going back if they can't properly wash their produce! He then offered a refund and I said sure. That's definitely not what I was after, but since he was so ignorant I just said ok to getting my money back. I've worked in food service, I know stuff happens but there's a way to handle someone giving you a heads up to go back through your produce and wash it again vs. just denying responsibility when you're the Store Manager! I definitely wasn't going to post anything either but now everyone should know they could care less about the bugs in their produce and don't feel the need to just re wash them after being given a heads up that...
Read moreI had written a review several months ago in 2015 and admittedly, it was not at all a favorable review since my last visit (and two previous visits) were anything but favorable. For some (strange?) reason, that review has disappeared.
So, here goes again. Just be forewarned. This restaurant (and I use the term loosely) is not a place you want to visit.
Wait time is extremely slow and prices a little on the high side, especially for what you (don't) get. Last time I was there, I ordered the Reuben Sandwich and it arrived cold. When they "retooled" it, it came back without the sauerkraut and dressing. The visit prior to that one was with a friend. I ordered the Caesar Salad with chicken and it was awful. There was not one piece of lettuce that was not wilted and tinged with brown decay and the chicken had an off-taste of meat going bad and on its last legs. Actually, I can't recall the particulars of the visit prior to that (making three bad visits in a row), only to claim amnesia in an attempt to forget a totally forgettable experience.
If only one visit was bad, I would have written it off as just a fluke. When three consecutive visits (weeks apart) are bad, it's a sign to bypass this place;...
